Taxonomy Project
For this assignment you will be creating a portfolio. This may be done either in a printed format
or an electronic format. Choose an organism to research from each kingdom, phylum, class, etc that is in bold
print. In addition, choose an organism that is of economic importance to humans (either commercially or
medically). Research your organisms. Write a profile for each organism. Each profile should be on its own sheet
of paper, and should include:
The scientific name and common name (if it has one)
A picture of the organism
The complete taxonomy of the organism (minimum 7 levels)
An explanation of why the organism is classified the way it is.
A paragraph of interesting information about the organism. For example, you could include basic
anatomy, unique structures/functions, niche, related species, and any other information that you
consider interesting/pertinent.
