Conrad Hilton (Hilton Hotels)
Conrad Nicholson Hilton was born in San Antonio, New Mexico on December
25, 1887. He died at the age of 91 years old on January 3, 1979 in Santa Monica, CA.
When he was a young boy, Conrad Hilton developed entrepreneurial skills working at his
father's store in Socorro County, New Mexico. Conrad does not have a current resident
he died from pneumonia in St. John’s Hospital, in Santa Monica, CA. His first hotel
purchase was the 40 room Mobley Hotel in Cisco, Texas, in 1919. He went on to buy
hotels throughout Texas. He built his first hotel outside of Texas in 1939 in Albuquerque,
New Mexico. It is today known as the Andaluz Hotel. Conrad Hilton got degrees from
the University of Detroit in 1953, DePaul University in 1954, Barat College 1955 ,
Adelphi College in 1957, Sophia University in 1958, Tokyo in 1963, and the University
of Albuquerque in 1975. Mr. Hilton owned 188 hotels in thirty-eight cities in the United
States. Three interesting facts about Hilton are that the Conrad N. Hilton Foundation was
established in 1944, the Conrad N. Hilton foundation is a program that people help the
porr and neadsuch kids from Africa and from Haitih, he was married three times to Mary
Adelaide Barron, famous actress Zsa Zsa Gabor and to Mary Frances Kelly, Hilton had
three sons Conrad Nicholson Jr., William Barron, and Eric Michael, with his first wife
Mary Barron, and the last important fact is that he has one of the biggest chains of hotel
owning business. The first high rise hotel he built wasthe Dallas Hilton, which opened in
1925. This was followed by the Abilene Hilton, Waco Hilton,, and El Paso Hilton from
1927-1930. He built his first hotel that was outside of Texas in 1939 in Albuquerque,
New Mexico. It is today known as the Andaluz Hotel. He formed the Hilton Hotels in
1946 followed by his Hilton International Company in 1948. During the 1950s and
1960s, Hilton Hotels worldwide expanded both American tourism and overseas business
by some American corporations. It was the world's first international hotel chain. Hilton
owns hotels across America, I have been to one of these hotels and they are all about
luxary and comfort. I think Conrad Hilton was a great entrepenuer because he started of
his career when he was just a child working with his father. He also was a very smart
man and got college offers from 8 different colleges, today hilton hotels welcomes guests
in more countries than any other hotel brand. Hilton is the most recognized name in the
hotel industry. Conrad Hilton was well known for being famous and a philathrtapist and
entrepeneuer. In all, Hilton eventually owned 188 hotels in thirty-eight cities. Conrad
started off as a young boy learning how to be an entrepenuer like his father. After the
years went by he was one of the well known hotel owners. I learned that if you keep
going with your bussiness it will pay off in the long run.
