DEPARTMENT OF COMMUNICATION, MEDIA AND FILM NOTICE RE: GRADUATE ASSISTANT (GA) POSITIONS AVAILABLE FOR WINTER TERM 2016 REVISED DEC. 11 2015 In accordance with Article 12:01 of the CUPE 4580 Collective Agreement the Department of Communication, Media and Film invites applications for GA positions for the Winter 2016 term. The total number of Graduate Assistantships allocated to the Department of Communication, Media and Film for 2015/16 is 13 GAs for a total of 3640 hours. Eligibility requirements: GA appointments shall be offered in accordance with the criteria specified in Article 12:03 of the Collective Agreement. The following are additional specific criteria required for the appointments above: Required Essential qualifications: • Registration in the Communication and Social Justice MA program. • Applicants must be available to attend courses, labs and exams at the specified time, etc. and for proctoring throughout the examination period at the specified times on the SIS calendar uwindsor.ca/timetables Preferred qualifications: • Preference will be given to applicants who have a background in the area of the course they are applying for. Graduate Assistants must apply each term by the application deadline, in accordance with Article 13:"With respect to those students who have applied for and been accepted for Assistantships, the Assistant will not be paid for any shortfall of hours at the end of their respective program, provided the University has satisfied its obligation to post available positions each term in writing and on the AAU website and to offer the minimum terms of support in accordance with Article 13:01 (a) & (b) and provided that the Assistant has applied in writing or via e-mail by the application deadline for each term until they have received the minimum terms of support in accordance with Article 13:01 (a) & (b).""Students must maintain fulltime registration throughout the term and must be in good standing in the degree program in order to hold a Graduate Assistantship. Students who meet the Phase I tuition refund deadline are therefore not eligible to hold a GA." A full graduate assistantship requires an average of 10 hours per week for a maximum of 140 hours per semester. Refer to Articles 12, 13, and 14 of the Collective Agreement for eligibility details. All new GAs hired will be required complete the online accessibility training at uwindsor.ca/ohrea/customer-service-training and provide their certificate of completion to CMF Dept. . If you have already completed this training, please submit your certificate along with your application. Please note: CMF will only compensate GAs under contract, one time, for 1.5 hours to complete the training if not previously completed.
