LESSON PLAN 4 – Bryanna Quade Class level Classroom Beginners Classroom 2 Progress expectation The students should be able to use the present continuous tense to describe what they are doing using vocabulary associated to morning routines. Present Continuous Tense and morning routines In the morning Prepare student to be able to construct present continuous sentences to explain what they are doing in the moment Students should be able to state what they are doing in the present moment using the present continuous, actions, and vocabulary dealing with morning routines (brushing my teeth, getting dressed, waking up, etc.) My students already know basic structure of the verb “to be” and all of the forms: I am, you are, he/she is..etc. Students also recognize some of the vocabulary such as teeth, coffee, do, make. My personal computer to show video as a back up if necessary. I will assess students periodically throughout the lesson using a mixture of formal and informal assessments. Students will use worksheets with grammar exercises to check comprehension. Students will also create multiple sentences using the vocabulary, actions and grammar to test their knowledge on the subject matter. The overall lesson well. I only had one student in the class today, but I adapted the materials as necessary to meet the needs of the one student. I feel the level of the material was appropriate. The present continuous may have been a new concept for my student, but I feel she understood the lesson due to a large numbers of visuals and examples used to promote comprehension. I would have changed my way to present the grammar. I’m still learning how to properly present the grammar and I didn’t feel confident in my approach. I tried to do multiple sentences broken down into parts, but I should have just started with one complete sentence already in place on the board. The level of attention was fairly good, but my student required lots of examples and repetition. I think she was interested and content with the final result of the lesson. She was determined and followed instructions well. In the future I would do the activities for the majority the same, but I would have presented the grammar differently and with sentences. The student to my right then has to start “brushing his teeth” or do the action that I say to show they understood me. They continue doing my action while reading their sentence, “I am getting dressed” even though they are brushing their teeth. The following student mimics the action they say until everyone goes around the circle doing an action and saying their sentence.
