prehistory – before written history
archaeology – the study of the past through examining objects that people have left
behind
artifact – an object made or used by people in the past
ritual – relating to a ceremony, such as a religious ceremony
hominid – a prehistoric human
capabilities – skills possessed by a particular group or species
anthropology – the study of human development and culture
remains – a dead body or the parts of an organism that are left to be examined after
death
biped – a two-footed animal, or animal that walks on two feet
migrate – to move from one geographic region to another
community – when a group of organisms share responsibility and care for one
another
land bridge – a piece of land connecting two continents.
