Contingency Planning Exchange Announces First Meeting for Long Island Chapter
Bay Shore, New York – March 24, 2004 – The Contingency Planning Exchange (CPE) of Long
Island, a not-for-profit organization, has announced it will hold its first chapter meeting on
April 21st at Tradewinds in Bayshore, Long Island from 8:00a.m. – 12:00p.m. The meeting will
feature Supervisor for Safety and Loss Prevention Operations Theodore W. Kern of KeySpan
Energy, Inc. and Region Manager Vincent Bove of Summit Securities Services, Inc. Topics will
range from terrorism and crisis management to natural disasters. This forum will bring to
Long Island businesses both large and small the knowledge that will enable them to protect
their businesses through proper planning and mitigation. The meeting is free and open to
the public.
To raise membership awareness for Long Island based professionals, the CPE is offering an
introductory annual membership fee of $75.00, a reduction of 50%. This fee will entitle each
member to attend any of the meetings presented by the CPE. In addition, with preregistration to a CPE event, first-time admission is free. Vendors are invited to join for
$1,500.00, which entitles each to market and display their capabilities at all CPE-related events
in the New York region.
About Theodore W. Kern
Theodore W. Kern’s career over the past 23 years has spanned many roles within the Risk
Management field including: emergency planning and response, fire protection, insurance,
property loss prevention, safety, security and workers’ compensation. Mr. Kern is responsible
for overseeing the operation of the Safety and Loss Prevention area, including; safety program
development and implementation, accident response and investigations, property protection,
property insurance and claims administration, risk management information systems and
technologies, and risk assessments. Mr. Kern is also a participant in the development and
testing of emergency action, crisis management and business continuation plans.
