Ambassador Committee Guidelines Mission The Ambassadors are a subcommittee of the Sherwood Chamber of Commerce dedicated to giving personal value to the members of the Chamber through public relations, social networking, and assisting the Chamber to build and maintain membership. Benefit Exposure for you and your business within the Chamber and the local community. Meet business leaders for potential business opportunities and social contacts. Contribute to community growth. Recognition as a leader. Be a resource for local businesses. Enjoy social interaction with other like-minded volunteers. Commitment Ambassadors of the Sherwood Chamber of Commerce make a one year commitment to the subcommittee; attend the monthly Ambassador meeting, and attend at least one Chamber event monthly. Each Chamber Ambassador will be assigned an emphasis, either special events or membership. Authority This position carries no authority to make financial or other commitments on behalf of the Chamber without prior approval of the Chamber Board of Directors. Responsibilities Represent the Chamber through a high degree of professionalism and appropriate dress. Embrace a positive, supportive, and respectful attitude. Special Events Emphasis Monthly Breakfasts: Greet attendees at Chamber Events. Making referrals to chamber resources and members Register attendees “Buddy System”- Seek out and welcome new members and make personal introductions. Ribbon Cutting Ceremonies/ Mixers: Greet attendees at Chamber Events. Make initial contact with the host business in order to be as informed and prepared as possible to help facilitate the event. Be knowledgeable of what the host business expects for their event and brainstorm talking points. Review talking points with the Chamber Executive Director prior to the event. At the event: keep the event on schedule by following the timeline as set forth by the host business. Be prepared to support the unstated needs of the host business. Post-event: conduct a follow-up review with the host business to make sure that expectations were met and ask if they would be willing to be a referral source for future events. Membership Emphasis Using the “Buddy System”- Ambassador will work with new members to invite them to upcoming events, make introductions, and keep them involved in Chamber happenings. Distribute new member plaques when members can not make it to a breakfast to receive them. Assist new members with profile pages on www.sherwoodchamber.org. Help with Business Directory- update information and contact members. Prospect at least 2 new members per month in order to encourage Chamber membership. Any amendments to this document are to be made per the consensus of the Ambassador committee, by the Ambassador Committee chair, Ambassador Board liaison, and the Sherwood Chamber Executive Director.
