The Rev. Robert Richardson, Liturgist
Who shall ascend the hill of the Lord?
And who shall stand in His holy place?
Those who have clean hands and pure hearts,
and do not lift up their souls to what is false and do
swear deceitfully.
One: They shall receive blessing from the Lord,
All: and vindication from the God of their salvation.
UNISON PRAYER OF CONFESSION
Merciful God, we know that you love us and that you call us to the
fullness of life, but around us and within us we see the
brokenness of our world and of our ways. Our successes leave us
empty; our progress does not satisfy.
Our prosperous land is not the promised land of our longing.
Forgive our willful neglect of your word and insensitivity to the
needs of others, and our failure to feed the spirit that is within us;
through Jesus Christ our Redeemer, Amen.
ASSURANCE OF PARDON
Do not worry or be troubled for God hears the confession of our hearts
and lips. Through Jesus Christ we are forgiven all our sins, and by the
power of the Holy Spirit we are empowered for new life.

God is here!
God’s Spirit is with us!
Lift up your hearts.
We lift up our hearts to God.
Let us give thanks to God.
It is right to give God thanks and praise!
One: We give you thanks, Gracious God, for the gift of all Creation –
the great diversity of this beautiful world.
We give you thanks for the gift of Christ in our midst.
What a long road has been traveled
since the day Christ revealed himself to the disciples
on the road to Emmaus.
All:
Yet it is the same road we walk again today.
Christ is still speaking.
Christ is still inviting us to this table of grace and healing.
May this Communion conquer all our doubts and fears
and be for everyone a sign of Christ’s presence in our
lives.
One: And so in the strength of the Holy Spirit and with people of all
ages, we praise you with gratitude and joy:

Holy God, send your Spirit to bless these gifs of bread and cup,
and to bless us, that we may receive anew the life and blessing

All:
O Risen Christ, the bread we break at this table is a sign
of the brokenness of all the world. Through our sharing
of the Bread of Life and the Cup of Blessing open our
eyes and hands to the needs of all people. Let our
hearts be filled with joyful love, yearning to share your
gifts, and help us to go forth into the world with Bread:
Bread of Hope, Bread of Life, Bread of Peace. And so we
sing the prayer you taught us:

OUR CHURCH
Worship is a time of quiet reflection and prayer. As such, we would ask
that you please put your cell phone on vibrate. If it is absolutely
necessary to take a call during worship, please do so downstairs in the
Lower Narthex or Vestry. Thank you.
WATCHMAN: Isaiah 21 verse 6 - For thus the Lord said to me:
"Go, set a watchman, let him announce what he sees." Last week
we viewed the documentary on Harper Lee and the impact that her
Pulitzer Prize winning book To Kill a Mockingbird had on so many in this
country and then the celebrated movie of the same name. Today, Oct.
11 and next week right after church we'll discuss this book and Go Set a
Watchman. There are still Watchman books available. If you would like
one, see Ann Gunsalus.
Harwich Jr. Theater’s next production is To Kill a Mockingbird, playing
from Oct. 16 to Nov. 15.
The next meeting of the Prayer Shawl Knitters will be held on Friday,
October 9, at 11 am at the home of Anita Mewherter, Landing’s Edge
Condos, 33 West Road, Unit 4A, Orleans. Bring a sandwich. Yarn and
needles are available. We welcome new knitters!
The presentation of our 2016 Proposed Budget will be held on Tuesday,
October 20, at 6:30 pm. All are encouraged to attend this informative
meeting.
A message from your Flower Committee... As of this writing the
Landing is available every Sunday in October. If you would like to donate
an arrangement in memory or in honor of someone, in celebration of an
occasion, or "just because," please call Nancy Clough, 508 255-3111.
Who are we? Jennifer Clark is hoping to find out by recording the living
history of our church – YOU! Please contact her to share your story –
your beginning, chosen path, major events, interests, and dreams. Jen
can be reached by e-mail at jenlreyn@yahoo.com or call her at 202 5500673. More details in the October Parish Visitor.
Your donations in the blue envelopes for the Deacons’ Fund assist our
Board of Deacons in helping those in need in this church. We hope you
will consider participating in this important ministry.
WIDER CHURCH
The World Council of Churches Ecumenical Prayer Cycle asks us to pray
this week for Afghanistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Mongolia, Tajikistan,
Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan.

are in need. The assistance of The Federated Church in recent months
has been truly appreciated. During October, their greatest needs are for:
hearty soups, Dinty Moore stew, boxes of rice or pasta side dishes,
kidney beans, toothpaste & shampoo. If you'd like to help out, the
donation bin is outside the Church Office door. Many, many thanks!
SUPER SATURDAY. Don’t Miss it! The MA and RI Conferences of the
UCC present this day of worship, workshops and networking on October
17 in Framingham. The Keynote Speaker is Dr. Marcia McFee.
Workshops relate to church life, mission and ministries, plus a 30 minute
table conversation or forum during a mid-day lunch period. See the
church bulletin board for more information. Online registration is
encouraged by TOMORROW - October 5 at
