To whom it may concern,
The 2013 Chinese Bridge competition of Irish college students, which is the preliminary event of the
12th Chinese Bridge Competition of Chinese for World College Students, will be held on 27th April
2013 in the Gresham Hotel, 23 Upper O’ Connell Street, Dublin 1.
The competition is organised by the Embassy of The People’s Republic of China in Ireland and
hosed by the UCD Confucius Institute for Ireland.
The theme of this competition is: My Chinese Dream.
All college students, under 30 years of age of any nationality, whose mother tongue is not Chinese,
can apply to take part in the competition.
The competition is in 3 parts: 1) Speech Contest in Chinese; 2) Chinese Arts Contest: such as
Chinese songs, music, dance, folk arts, acrobatics, musical instruments, calligraphy, Chinese
painting, Chinese paper-cutting, Chinese martial arts, Chinese poem-recitation, etc. 3) Contest of the
knowledge of China, Chinese language and culture;
The competition will be divided into 2 rounds:
 The first round will take place from 10:00am to 12:00 midday on 27th April 2013. All
participants will give a one-minute speech in Chinese, one-minute talent show and take part in
a short knowledge contest. Eight participants will qualify to enter the second round of the
competition in the afternoon.

 The second round (final) competition is from 2:00pm to 5:00pm on 27 April 2013. Every
qualified participant is expected to give a speech in Chinese and perform a Chinese-themed
talent show. The speech should be 3 minutes long (approx.) and the talent show should last 3 to
5 minutes.

china@ucd.ie by 22 April 2013. Please specify your email subject as “Name-Application for 2013
Chinese Bridge Competition-Ireland”.
