To use phrases j’aime and je n’aime pas Introduction/ Warm up Using flipchart sort picture cards of anything (e.g. objects, animals) by gender to reinforce Le and La Activities Watch unit 10 on Early Start2 DVD (10 minutes) Show flashcards. Play games: -True or false - Introduce terms aimes-tu? and j’aime et je n’aime pas Children have flashcards showing j’aime and je n’aime pas. Teacher holds up food flashcard and says name of item. Children repeat word and hold up relevant flashcard. Together say either j’aime or je n’aime pas to the item. EMBEDDING OPPORTUNITIES AND ADDITIONAL ACTIVITIES Register: Children say a food that they like, e.g. j’aime les chips Make a French tally chart of likes and dislikes P.E. Run to relevant items. Multiple copies of the 6 items to avoid safety issues! Evaluation Plenary/ consolidation Kim’s game (hide one item). Children say what’s missing. Stick mini pictures and/or copy write word from board and then price items in a multiple of 5. Teacher asks children to hold menus up.
