Restaurant Review
After a hard day at the cube farm, dinner at the downtown August Moon will restore your
peace of mind. Hide out in a booth under a red silk lantern, let a lilting Chinese melody
drift through your brain, and order a glass of plum wine while pondering the 10-page
menu. The gracious servers won't hurry you. Although house specialties cost up to $16,
you'll find oodles of under-$9 bargains among the pork, poultry, noodle and vegetable
dishes. For example, two people could easily feast for $7.25 on the house special crispy
noodles, a stunning platter of fried long noodles strewn with carrots, peapods, chicken,
shrimp, beef and barbecued pork. Take comfort in such favorites as sweet-and-sour pork
or beef with broccoli, or brave the flames of curry chicken, shredded pork with garlic
sauce or kung pao beef. August Moon's crisply cooked vegetables, tender meats and
light, savory sauces are wholesome as well as delicious. There's more of a hustle at lunch,
when a limited menu of the most popular items is available, with prices topping out at
$6.75. Check out the other August Moon in Northwest Portland, too.

Two Devices Featured (CD/MP3 players): the Philips Expanium and the
Pine D'music SM-200C.
Philips Expanium’s major problem: It doesn't display any song information,
making navigation hard. Its overall feel is flimsy and its controls were a little clumsy. Its
antishock feature, which prevents skips when the unit is moved, was found to be less than
perfect. It also lacks a versatile set of equalizer settings to change the tone of the music.
Pine D'music SM-200C’s major problem: The D'music has a fatal flaw -- it
caused skips in MP3-CDs and, in some cases, it plays five or 10 seconds of static before
starting a song.
