Annual Report 2007-2008 Preface Institute for Excellence in Higher Education has established itself as a model Institution of higher learning in a short span of ten years. As the name goes the Institute has earned recognition far and wide for qualitative teaching and all round development of our students. We in the Institute strive to carve out the young talents, 'our students' into outstanding human beings ready to face the challenging world outside. Located in a lush green valley with beautiful surroundings that provide a very conducive atmosphere for higher learning, IEHE took up the onerous task of disseminating knowledge as well as encouraging original and new ideas among students, so as to train them to meet the challenges of the modern world successfully. Since its inception in 1995, IEHE is continuously engaged in elevating its standards and evolving innovative methods of learning. Its efforts in this direction paid off when it received an 'A' grade from National Assessment and Accreditation Council, Bangalore in 2004. A modest teacher taught ratio and effective ‘Tutor Guardian Scheme’ has helped in developing a healthy interactive environment for teaching and learning. Along with traditional classroom teaching, subjective approach of laboratory working, seminars, group discussions, quizzes, and assignments, educational trips, monthly G.K. and current affairs test are the other means through which the students are grilled to ripen into well equipped, talented and smart individuals. Computer Awareness is compulsory for every student as it forms a part of foundation course. Workshops and seminars are also conducted by the invited guest personalities to broaden the horizons of the students in various walks of life. The examination system is comprehensive as the continuous evaluation scheme involves internal as well as external modes of evaluation evolved over the years. This system is truly transparent as any student can see his/her answer sheets as well as get them rechecked. Also there is scope for students to rectify their mistakes and go through learning experience as answer sheets of meritorious students are displayed in the library for the benefit of all. IEHE creates its own checks and balances through an inbuilt feedback mechanism. This gives scope and chance to the faculty also to improve upon their skills, teaching methodologies and knowledge base of the subject. The Management and Legal Status The Institute is autonomous and is managed by ‘The Institute for Excellence in Higher Education Society’, Bhopal, registered under the ‘Society Registration Act 1973 and has been recognised by the UGC in july 2002 under 2(f) & 12(B), of the UGC Act 1956.
