CHRISTIAN COMMUNITY CREDIT UNION AWARDS $41,500 IN SCHOLARSHIPS
(San Dimas, CA, June 21, 2012) Christian Community Credit Union’s Focused on the Future
Scholarship Program awarded $41,500 in scholarships to 42 students in 2012. Recipients
were selected based on their essay, academic excellence, extra-curricular activities and
references. Applicants wrote an essay on the topic: “Financially speaking, our culture calls us
consumers, but the Bible describes us as stewards, or managers (Matthew 25:14-30). What
are some key differences between thinking and behaving as a consumer vs. as a steward, and
why does this matter?” The Scholarship Program is offered early spring and awarded in June.
Scholarships are available for undergraduate to post-graduate students who are members of
Christian Community Credit Union.
Scholarship winners expressed their appreciation to the Credit Union. “Your support has
eased the financial strain of paying for school and given me some peace of mind, allowing
me to focus on my studies. I am humbled to have been chosen, thank you for seeing the
value in the career path God has chosen for me to pursue,” said Joanna Williams, a UCLA
graduate student in Sociology & Social Work. Marianne Cintron, an Educational Leadership
major at Argosy Online University said, “Thanks for the $1,000 scholarship. I have been a
member of Christian Community Credit Union for over a decade and I can’t begin to tell you
how nice it is to invest my money in missions, have Christians greet me and handle my
business, come in and hear Christian music, and read scriptures about how the Lord is in
control and He owns it all, and is faithful.”
