We are writing to inform you that beginning March 3, 2014, HBO will be ceasing new authorizations for the HBO
& Cinemax MPEG 2 HD feeds and certain Motorola commercial IRDs.
We are not making any changes to your existing authorizations and you will not need to take any action with
your existing HBO-authorized satellite equipment.
A. Effective March 3, 2014, HBO will cease new authorizations for the following feeds:
HBO MPEG 2 HD East & West feeds on Galaxy 13 Transponder 10
Cinemax MPEG 2 HD East & West feeds on Galaxy 13 Transponder 11
Existing authorizations will remain active throughout 2014 and early 2015, so if you are currently authorized to receive any of these MPEG 2 HD feeds, you will not need to take any action with your satellite equipment in
order to continue to receive these HBO and Cinemax HD feeds. HBO and Cinemax HD East and West feeds can be found in MPEG-4 format on Galaxy 14 Transponder 16 and Galaxy 15 Transponder 19.
B. In early 2013 (see the EOL notification below), Motorola Mobility, now known as ARRIS, formally announced the end of unconstrained repair services for the following commercial IRD products:
DSR-4520X
DSR-4400
DSR-4400X
DSR-4400MD
DSR-4500
Given Motorola/ARRIS’s announced EOL plans, effective March 3, 2014, HBO will no longer provide new authorizations for any of the above commercial IRD models or for the DSR-4500x and DSR-4402x models
which were the subject of a previous EOL notification. However, if you currently receive HBO or Cinemax feeds using one of the specified models, the existing authorization will remain in effect and you will not need to take any action with your existing HBO-authorized satellite equipment.
Below is a list of current ARRIS (Motorola) models:
DSR-4410
DSR-4410MD
DSR-4530 (ARRIS will soon move this unit to EOL status)
DSR-4550 (ARRIS will soon move this unit to EOL status)
