: HOUSEKEEPING OPERATIONS (LECTURE)
COURSE DESCRIPTION : This course deals with the study of the tasks performed by the housekeeping department.
It also deals with the different standard procedures in cleaning, room inventory, and materials & equipment used in the hospitality
industry.
CREDIT
: 2 units (2hrs lecture/week)
PRE-REQUISITE
: Principles of Tourism, Principles of Food Safety, Hygiene and Sanitation in the Hospitality Industry
GENERAL OBJECTIVES : To study the task performed in the Housekeeping Department. To learn the different standards in cleaning
procedure, bathroom cleaning, carpet shampooing and bed making, chemicals and materials used and perform actual room

: The final grade for the course is based on the average of the prelim, midterm and final periodical grades. Periodical grades is
computed as the sum of 2/3 of the class standing and 1/3 of the periodical exam. Class standing is broken down as follows:
50% for Quizzes, 20% for Recitation,10% for Projects, 20% for Research/Homework.
