The systems administrator will work with systems administration tools and troubleshooting techniques supporting Windows 2000, Windows 2000 Server, MS Active Directory, MS Exchange Server, DNS, Outlook, and MS SQL 2000 Server. The Systems Administrator will support and troubleshoot Desktop and Laptop Technology to include Microsoft Office Applications, TCP/IP Networking, Windows 2000 PC hardware and software, and Remote users VPN. In addition, the Systems Administrator will install, configure, and support LAN hardware and software, to include servers, peripherals, network nodes, terminals, hubs, switches, routers, printer servers, and other devices as required and provide support for the web server, website hosting, website migrations, and SQL coding. Provides high-level technical expertise to local area network (LAN) and remote endusers to ensure daily integrity of the system and end-user data. Maintains physical site security, computer access, disaster prevention and recovery procedures for LAN and related equipment and software. Maintains Window 2000, SQL 2000 and other servers. Supports and troubleshoots LAN. Performs analysis of network needs and contributes to design of network. Performs analysis of Windows 2000 and Exchange 2000 environment and contributes to existing design model, architecture, integration, and installation. Manage Exchange server for unwanted emails and viruses. Prepares and maintains documentation of network configurations, server configurations, system redundancy, security configurations in relation to authentication and hardware and software requirements and capabilities, and makes recommendations Maintains wiring systems and develops appropriate diagrams and documentation. Evaluates LAN hardware and software requirements and capabilities and makes recommendations. Ensures data/media recoverability by implementing a consistent schedule of system backups and database archive operations on both local workstations and file servers. Migrates, replicates, backs-up, and restores database. Analyzes workflow and procedures to recommend operational support tools and technologies to satisfy organizational needs. Configures, assembles and installs workstations and/or peripheral equipment. Plans, directs and coordinates network operations and performance functions to ensure network availability and high quality transmission. Creates and maintains user login identification (userid) information. Develops strategies to purchase and maintain equipment and software for the organization’s headquarters staff and Executive Officers. Ensures workstation server data integrity by evaluating, implementing, and managing appropriate hardware/software solutions. Monitors, isolates, resolves, and circumvents network problems. Advises management and interfaces with vendors regarding network performance. 21. Plans implementation of enhancements and upgrades to the network and the acquisition, installation, and testing of network hardware and software. 22. Analyzes performance problems and recommends solutions to enhance functionality, reliability, and/or usability. 23. Monitors system performance, gathers data, and prepares management reports. 24. Participates in the implementation of newly upgraded designs. 25. Provides user orientation on hardware, software, and network operations. 26. Plans, directs, and coordinates all activities of the computer hardware and peripheral equipment. 27. Reviews and approves plans, including time and cost estimates implementation schedules to purchase new or relocate existing hardware. 28. Advises staff on administrative policies and procedures, technical problems, priorities, and methods. 29. Meets regularly with outside vendors to review and discuss updates on new product lines; provides regular updates to director. 30. Reviews inventory to coordinate hardware replacement upon lease expiration. 31. Develops site administration documentation. 32. Keeps abreast of emerging operational support technologies and industry trends. 33. Upgrades, modifies, and replaces hardware, software, and network components. 34. Audits hardware and software inventory to ensure their integrity as well as licensing compliance. 35. Coordinates the communication of security practices between remote sites and maintains consistency of established procedures. 36. Acts as a liaison between the organization and other technical groups/vendors to resolve network and hardware problems. 37. Performs first line of support service interruptions such as printer routings, power outages, wiring problems, and malfunctioning servers; escalates unresolved problems to expedite resolution. 38. Keeps abreast of major situations affecting service to the organization and ensures all aspects of customer satisfaction as it relates to the technology. 39. Manages resources usage to minimize costs and maximize network availability. 40. Interfaces with staff to define present network needs and plans for future requirements. 41. Provides 24x7 on-call support as needed. QUALIFICATIONS: 1. B.S. Degree with at least five (5) years of verifiable experience in system administration and troubleshooting Windows 2000, Windows 2000 server, MS Exchange server, DNS, and SQL servers. 2. Must have solid knowledge and skills to support and troubleshoot desktop and laptop technology to include Microsoft Office applications, TCP/IP Networking, Windows 2000 PC hardware and software and Remote users VPN. 3. Must have verifiable experience installing, configuring and supporting LAN hardware and software, including servers, peripherals, network nodes, terminal, hubs, switches, routers, printer servers, and other devices. 4. Must be able to prioritize, multitask, and function independently from team environment. 5. Must be able to accurately estimate work efforts. 6. Must be able to see strategically and then execute with the strategic vision in mind at all times. 7. Must be self-motivated and proactive, looking for solutions rather than waiting to be tasked. 8. Must be comfortable in a team environment where ideas and code are subjected to group scrutiny. 9. Highly motivated with excellent written and oral communication skills and team attitude required. 10. Experience with web servers, website hosting, website migrations and SQL coding is a plus. This position is located within National Headquarters of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., at 1707 New Hampshire Avenue, NW, Washington, DC. Moving, lifting and packaging materials, hardware and software are required. The work will be performed in a normal office setting, and may require travel.
