TimeMachine backs you up every hour on the hour without telling it to. It’s automatic. It keeps a history of backups for retrieval of lost or corrupt files.

Because it is part of the operating it has some unique abilities. You want to have a bigger drive than what you have on your computer. At least twice the size of your hard drive.

SuperDuper by Roger – FREE (free version will wipe off a drive the first time you use it. BE CAREFUL if you use the free version again because of this. If you pay the $27 it gives you additional good capabilities under the option menu.

He’s the one that went to MacWorld. Rick said its not like it used to be. Saturday is full of kids attendance.

There were some small companies that concentrate on selling their software or how to write an app. You don’t get people there that are Apple specialists.

AT&T Microcell: $150 Private cellular tower. Plugs into your Ethernet. If you live somewhere you cant get your AT&T service, set it by a window & makes it like a cellphone tower in your house. It has to be where you already have coverage but it’s poor coverage. It needs to go through a GPS signal to sync up. Must have a street address where AT&T has coverage.

AT&T “mark the spot” app will also do something for this.

Apple Hypermac makes nice external batteries for your iphone.

Goals for the group is to get more people to come. Jason has Velcro ties made up for advertising. Had out Velcro ties & give to friends that have macs.

Lightpeak connector: 10K mb. Intel super highspeed cable. Good for if you have a lot of high capacity drives. Can be used for a pseudo network connection.

How to invite new people to the group: Please let people know about our club. Pass the Velcro ties around & give out. Along with vinyl lettering on your laptop.

OS 10.7: Jason passed around an external drive to boot from if you want to check it out. Comes with trim support that helps you write on the drive.

Once a drive gets full it has to zero out old data. Trim allows the OS to allow the drive to give it permissions to rewrite the data. Now or in the future.

10.7 is dropping Rosetta. All power pc’s will be abandoned with 10.7 watched video on LaunchPad:

Time capsule backs up multiple computers with your wireless. Use the options button if you want to EXCLUDE a drive or folder (Exclude your parallels or VM disk) when backing up. In TimeMachine IF it fails for whatever reason you will probably have to reformat the backup drive & lose your old data. Backups have 3 purposes 1) backup 2) restore data 3) if you lose files or corrupt files

All you have to do it go back a few backups & find your data & then just hit

“restore”.

Keep your TimeMachine icon on your dock.

When it gets full its supposed to delete your oldest backup.
