Hours of Work: 36.25 hours per week, full-time Location: Jubilee Campus Reporting to: Project Manager, Institute for Aerospace Technology The Purpose of the Role: This role is based within the Institute for Aerospace Technology which was established in 2010 and part-funded by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF). The post will be based at the Aerospace Technology Centre and will be responsible for supporting the delivery of a business engagement programme to reach out and engage industry and enable it to access our research base. Responsibilities will also include carrying out market research and business intelligence and developing a variety of marketing media for the IAT. The role holder will report to the IAT Project Manager and will work closely with the IAT project team to expand the University’s aerospace portfolio. To support commercial activities including gathering of industrial needs, assisting regional businesses to access state-of-the art facilities and enhancing industrial support and collaborations; To support the development of new funding opportunities and proposals, especially those involving industry-funded research, IP related research, strategic and collaborative schemes (e.g. EU and TSB programmes); To develop a programme of follow-up visits with regional companies engaged with the University, to identify and capture the benefits and impact achieved to date, including the development of case studies and marketing material where appropriate To support the development and delivery of the IAT events programme, promoting the IAT at regional, national and international events Producing online material (e.g. social media, website, e-newsletters) and offline (printed publications) to promote the IAT’s activities, identifying stories and opportunities to provide fresh content on a regular basis. Delivery of outreach activities including marketing materials and events of various sizes, formats and audiences. Excellent interpersonal skills, presentation and communication skills with a proven track record in team-working. Excellent time management skills and proven ability to work to tight deadlines. Desirable Relevant postgraduate qualification or equivalent. Broad work and activity plan Agreement to pursue new opportunities and initiatives Complex issues which fall outside University policies or where there is financial or reputational risk to the institution Additional Information The University of Nottingham set out a vision to consolidate its position as a leading institution for research into aerospace technologies and invest in infrastructure to further respond to grow its research portfolio in line with industrial demands. To allow for future growth and to address the most critical issues facing the aerospace sector, the University established the Institute for Aerospace Technology to provide a focus for our aerospace activities, to facilitate increased activity and deliver impact from our research by creating a streamlined pipeline from basic (TRL 1-3) to applied (TRL 4-6) research, the latter in close collaboration with our strategic partners. This has resulted in an investment of £8.8million, including University investment of £3.1million in new equipment and infrastructure for basic research, and £5.7million in the establishment of the Aerospace Technology Centre, a dedicated research and knowledge transfer facility, part-funded by the European Regional Development Fund, which will support Technology Readiness Levels 4-6. The IAT project portfolio currently stands at £56m and the aim is to grow this to £100m by 2020. The role holder will be part of the core project team based at the Aerospace Technology Centre, Innovation Park.
