The mission keeps every single member of the CCG team focused on a holistic approach to working with customers. At CCG, we understand that having software that is comprehensive and that works is only the beginning. The real and long-term benefits are in how the software is implemented, how fleet processes are explored and served via technology, how well every single fleet employee understands and utilizes the information available, and how the outcomes (real-time information and reports) assist the fleet operation in meeting objectives. OUR PURPOSE To make a positive difference in all the areas we serve. OUR MISSION To provide superior software and phenomenal service. OUR SEVEN ABIDING VALUES Our number one value is a commitment to serve. At CCG, service to our customers is at the core of all we do. We strive to serve each customer individually, as we understand every customer is unique: unique in the particular environment in which they operate, unique in the blend of individuals that compose their team and unique in their particular challenges and needs. Open Communication. At CCG, we believe that open communication is the key to keeping our customers, associates, vendors and industry friends completely informed of what is happening with us and within the industry. System and Hardware Specifications FASTER is a three-tiered Windows based application comprised of a client interface, application server module and data storage. The client features a standardized graphical user interface (GUI), operates on a Windows® 2000 or XP Professional based PC and communicates through a local gateway connection to the application server module. The FASTER application server module resides on a Windows® 2000/2003 server and is partitioned into a named pipe service providing a heritage interface to the COM+ objects, which provide business rules and logic. This module controls the input/output processes to the Relational Database Management System (RDMS) via an OLEDB connection. A Windows® domain controller or member server with maintained user accounts provides the Microsoft authentication required for client access to the both the FASTER Server and client applications. The simplest configuration locates the users and server objects in the same domain. FASTER is also successfully deployed in Novell® based networks running the TCP/IP protocol where Microsoft® authentication is gained by linking the Novell® and Microsoft® user accounts. This avoids needing multiple user logins for each account to access all authorized network resources and reduces the network security and support teams’ administrative tasks. Server computers must be configured with static IP addressing, while the workstations may use DHCP for IP assignment. Switched Ethernet is the optimal LAN topology providing a minimum of 10 mbps throughput to the desktop. Fiber connections are preferred to supply high speed connections to the user LAN(s) across the MAN/WAN. Wireless, Microwave and other transmission methods are also used in successful WAN/MAN installations. Capability and consistency of high speed transmission over the local area network (LAN) and wide area network (WAN) from the server to the client has significant ramifications on the FASTER application’s response times. Bandwidth requirements must be properly scaled to anticipated user load to ensure acceptable performance. Server Software To run FASTER you need both Windows® 2000 or 2003 Server with all operating system critical updates and service packs applied, Microsoft® .Net Framework v1.1, Microsoft MDAC v2.8 and client access licenses equal to the number of users. Co-resident server applications should be discussed with the CCG Systems support team to ensure compatibility with the FASTER application. Microsoft® SQL 2000 Standard Technical Edition is the recommended SQL database version for a FASTER implementation. Small Business Server 2003 Premium Edition is an optional bundled server suite that may be advantageous to smaller sites and those with limited server and network support. It includes Windows® 2003 Server, SQL 2000 Standard Edition and other server applications to support sites of up to 75 users. For sites preferring an Oracle® RDMS, FASTER supports Oracle® 9i Release 2. The RDMS may be installed on the site’s server platform of choice. Installation Deployment Types FASTER deploys in full client, thin client and mixed mode configurations. The client application is a true 32-bit application requiring Windows® 2000 or XP professional with MDAC 2.8 and all released critical updates. It is also recommended that sites provide desktop Internet connections (even if restricted) for access to interactive support sessions and site-specific FTP folder use, email that allows for file attachments, and MS Word®, MS Excel® and Adobe Acrobat Reader ® to allow viewing and printing of application documentation and analysis of exported data. Page 13 of 35 Trust us to be there. September 1, 2005 City of Puyallup, WA. CCG Systems, Inc. FULL CLIENT CONFIGURATIONS A full client installation consists of all client software being loaded and configured on the local workstations. Full client installations can require a single server or several servers depending on user load, hardware configuration, selected RDMS and method of deployment. Sites with less than 20 users can achieve satisfactory results utilizing Microsoft® SQL server and the FASTER application server module residing on a single server. Larger sites with greater than 20 users and sites utilizing an Oracle RDBMS must deploy separate servers for the RDBMS and FASTER application server module. The FASTER Server can also function seamlessly with data centrally contained in an enterprise database management system shared with other databases. FASTER is also in production at sites utilizing NAS and SANS storage devices and can be successfully installed and configured on virtual environment server platforms such as VMWare. Placement of the application and database servers is critical. There are generally two recommended configurations: A locally contained environment deploys the server(s) and user workstations in the same local area network (LAN) with network infrastructure capable of supporting 10/100 Mbps rates to the desktop. A centrally managed server environment is maintained by co-locating the application and database server(s) at a data center connected via high-speed WAN link to the user LAN(s). RECOMMENDED HARDWARE AND SYSTEM SPECIFICATIONS ServersSmall to Medium workgroup servers meet requirements for deployment in a variety of environments and installation scenarios. The following suggested specifications will allow for full functionality with the potential to meet moderate growth over the next three years. These configurations are provided as examples for pricing and availability comparisons. All major PC manufacturers provide configurations that meet the hardware and software specifications. Configuration 1—Single Application Server when using separate RDMS server or enterprise database system – CPU and Memory should be scaled to meet user load. Processor: Minimum Processor 3.06GHz/533MHz Memory: 1GB Total PC2100 Registered ECC DDR SDRAM Memory Storage controller: Integrated Single Channel Ultra3 SCSI Adapter RAID setting: RAID 5 setting Disk drives: 3 - 36GB U320 Non-Hot Plug Hard Drive 10,000 rpm (1”) Multi media bay 1: 16x DVD-ROM Drive (Carbon) Network card: PCI Gigabit Server Adapter (Integrated/Embedded) Configuration 2—Single Shared Server used for MSSQL RDMS and application server < 10 Users Processor: Minimum Processor 3.06GHz/533MHz Memory: 1GB Total PC2100 Registered ECC DDR SDRAM Memory Storage controller: Integrated Single Channel Ultra3 SCSI Adapter RAID setting: RAID 5 setting Disk Drives: 3 - 36GB U320 Non-Hot Plug Hard Drive 10,000 rpm (1”) CD-ROM/DVD: High Speed IDE CD-ROM Drive Network card: PCI Gigabit Server Adapter (Integrated/Embedded) Page 14 of 35 Trust us to be there. A thin client solution features applications executing in a server environment accessed through user sessions. Content of the user sessions or access to resources can be customized for individual users or user groups. Minimal application software is installed on the workstation PC. FASTER is deployed in a thin client environment utilizing Terminal Services and/or Citrix Metaframe. The thin client solution supports minimally configured PC’s running Windows 95/98, Windows 2000 or XP and Network terminals (WinTerms). Terminal Services is integrated into Windows 2000/2003 Server and can be utilized with or without the CITRIX Metaframe operating system layer. Additional Terminal Services licensing is required for this configuration. Deploying in a thin client configuration may also require the addition of a terminal services server computer(s) to service the client sessions. RECOMMENDED HARDWARE AND SYSTEM SPECIFICATIONS Servers Configuration 1—Single Client Application Server when using MS Terminal Services < 10 Processor: Minimum Processor 3.06GHz/533MHz Memory: 1GB Total PC2100 Registered ECC DDR SDRAM Memory Storage controller: Integrated Single Channel Ultra3 SCSI Adapter RAID setting: RAID 5 setting Disk drives: 3-36GB U320 Non-Hot Plug Hard Drive 10,000 rpm (1”) Multi media bay 1: 16x DVD-ROM Drive (Carbon) Network card: PCI Gigabit Server Adapter (Integrated/Embedded) Configuration 2—Client Application Server used for MS Terminal Services and CITRIX Metaframe > 10 Users. September 1, 2005 City of Puyallup, WA. CCG Systems, Inc. Setup and Maintenance CCG’s mission is to provide superior software and phenomenal service. We partner with every customer to ensure the smoothest installation and most comprehensive support. All desktop / server hardware and operating systems, RDMS Server software, network infrastructure, supplemental software programs and applications are the responsibility of the site personnel. These services are vital to providing a stable and efficient environment for the FASTER Application and may be contracted from an outside local vendor. Report Generation The standard reports provided with the FASTER application are created in Crystal Reports version 9.0. Crystal Reports software is not required to execute the run-time compiled reports; however, some sites prefer the ability to create and modify reports. This product and licensing can be obtained from most resellers or directly from Crystal Decisions (www.crystaldecisions.com). It is not sold by CCG Systems, Inc. Please contact CCG prior to purchasing Crystal Reports to verify the current recommended version. CCG also provides report writer training on the FASTER database via regional training sessions and/or onsite specialized training. Disaster Recovery and Backup CCG provides a CD with the FASTER application programs and standard reports to the site. These files can be used to reload a workstation or server in the case of hardware failure or replacement. The database file that stores your actual fleet information is typically housed on a SQL Server (or Oracle server) separate from the application and can be backed up via a SQL Server (or Oracle) maintenance plan utility scheduled to auto-run at least once daily. This data file will be used to restore the information in the case of failure. Your site’s network policies dictate the frequency of full server and workstation backups in addition to this data file backup. CCG recommends that the data file be stored off site or written to removable media as an added precaution. With appropriate precautions and full assistance from the CCG support team, the site can quickly recover from catastrophic failure. The backup and recovery process is designed in the pre-implementation phase and configured during installation. Page 16 of 35 Trust us to be there. September 1, 2005 City of Puyallup, WA. Please discuss with CCG prior to contract negotiations. Standard Billing Capabilities (No Additional Cost) An Accounting Extract is provided as a standard feature of the FASTER system. For each billing period, an extract is created. This program captures and stores all costs associated with each piece of equipment, including but not limited to: parts, labor, fuel, indirect labor, other miscellaneous costs, mark-ups and identifiers for categories and the reason, group and component codes for repairs. This data is used to prepare the Standard Billing Report generated by the system. The Accounting Extract, along with completed Accounting credit and debit information, allows a site to write their own customized billing report and supplemental export for an accounting interface. The Standard Billing Report meets the needs of most facilities where billing is made to a single account code for a given piece of equipment. If the standard report does not fulfill your site’s requirements, a program can be written to generate a custom billing report and supplemental export file for your accounting interface. (See following section.) Customized Reports and Accounting Interfaces No customization has been included in this proposal. definition of the needs of the City of Puyallup. This figure can be provided after full Customized Billing Reports and Accounting Interfaces can be written from the standard accounting extract by anyone with adequate report writer experience or training. Training and/or contracted customized report writing are widely available from third-party vendors. Sites often opt to have either staff programmers or fleet or administrative staff with the proper instruction create the customized reports and interfaces needed. Page 19 of 35 Trust us to be there. September 1, 2005 City of Puyallup, WA. CCG Systems, Inc. If necessary, CCG can create the reports or interfaces needed at your site. An estimate will be provided based on a review of your specific requirements and file layout. Phases of the Customized Billing Reports and Accounting Interfaces Process include: 1. The project must first be fully defined with clear specifications written. This is the most time consuming and challenging phase. Communication will occur with CCG via e-mail, conference calls and documentation during the specification period for clarification; however, site personnel will need to meet prior to communication with CCG and succinctly specify the purpose, outcome and content to be included in the customized reports. 2. After final specifications have been created, a scope-of-work document providing the layout, data fields and formats for the customized report/interface must be written and submitted. At this point, a firm pricing quote for the customization is provided by CCG. 3. The customization is written off-site from the scope-of-work and tested on sample files and/or sample database tables. 4. Finally, the customization is the tested, implemented and modified, if necessary. This phase is frequently accomplished through FTP transfers, dial-in diagnostics and minor adjustments to the programs or reports offsite. In some cases, however, depending on the complexity of the project, it is necessary to execute these tasks on-site. CCG will make this determination in advance and calculate any relevant costs into the pricing provided. Cost for Customized Billing Reports or Interfaces ranges between $2,000 and $15,000 depending upon project scope and specifications. Any customized reports and/or interfaces are considered to be outside the basic implementation contract and will be invoiced separately. Cost for On-site Customization Days is $1000.00 per day plus a travel and living allotment. Travel and living allotment is calculated from mid-week coach airfare or auto costs plus $300 per day. NOTES 1. All application software costs include a CD with all documentation. Copies of the documentation are not limited. Hard copies can be purchased from a third party vendor. Please contact CCG Systems, Inc. for information. 2. Training and follow-up training are vital to maintaining a high level of proficiency within your operation. Including additional onsite training days in your yearly support services is one way to maximize your staff’s potential. The cost of training/consulting is $1000 per day plus travel and living. 3. It is necessary that when a NETWORKED version of FASTER has been selected that preparation for the FASTER installation include a fully operational network.
