1. Community service & leadership activities essay:
Azusa Pacific University seeks outstanding students who align with APU’s four cornerstones: Christ,
Scholarship, Community, and Service (http://www.apu.edu/about/cornerstones/). Please write a
profile of yourself, sharing how your interests, activities, achievements, and aspirations complement the
university’s four cornerstones. Aim for 1-2 typed, double-spaced pages (300-500 words).
2. Your choice of the following essay prompts (A or B):
a. Martin Luther King Jr. wrote, “Intelligence plus character—that is the goal of true education.”
Please write an essay in which you explore the elements of intelligence and character, recount
those experiences and influences that have contributed most to your intellectual and moral
development, and anticipate how those two traits might further your college and career goals.
Aim for 2-3 typed, double-spaced pages (500-750 words).
b. Submit an academic essay which demonstrates your ability to think critically and express
yourself clearly and persuasively. An essay written for a course you have taken or currently
taking is acceptable. Aim for 2-3 typed, double-spaced pages (500-750 words). Reference to other
authors and data sources is encouraged. Academic essay must include the following certification
of authorship:
