A quick preface regarding the eboard
The below descriptions of the eboard positions are by no means comprehensive or all-encompassing. Each of
the eboard officers will be expected to work closely with each other, as well as the various APhA committees
and co-chairs. Furthermore, each position has an equally strong say in how we run our chapter.
Description of the Eboard Positions
1. PRESIDENT/PRESIDENT-ELECT
Running for President-Elect means you will be committing to a two-year term. Your 1st year as President-Elect
is for you to learn how to be President. It is a year of asking questions, getting involved with new things,
learning about APhA on a chapter, regional, and national level, and training oneself of the procedures and
logistics, so that you can take on the role of President during the 2nd year. As President, you will be in-charge
of overseeing everything that goes on in the chapter. You will be planning and running the general meetings,
organizing the chapter’s trip to MRM and Annuals Conference, and working closely with our faculty advisor,
Professor Feudo. As President, you should have a vision planned for yourself, your e-board, and the
organization on how to overcome weaknesses and improve strengths. This position requires someone who
can fill both a leadership and administrative role. It is a big responsibility and a significant time commitment;
however, it is very rewarding and worthwhile!
2. VICE PRESIDENT OF MEMBERSHIP
The Vice President of Membership is in charge of increasing membership, promoting involvement, and
bettering the value of chapter, state, and national membership with APhA. The major tasks include holding
membership drives at the beginning of each semester, and promoting APhA-ASP involvement in a variety of
creative ways. Throughout the year, the VP of Membership will work with the treasurer to distribute and collect
membership forms and dues and then separate them appropriately and send them to the NJPhA and national
office. In addition, he/she will need to address questions or issues that arise in respect to membership. An
ideal is candidate is able to communicate and speak effectively to students.
3. VICE PRESIDENT OF FINANCE
The Vice President of Finance is responsible for maintaining the APhA account and strategic planning for
budgeting, reimbursements and fundraising. Typical duties include setting budgets goals for each of the
committees, making deposits and withdrawals at the SABO, ordering food and related supplies for
organizational events, organizing membership dues, budgeting for allotted reimbursements for MRM and
Annuals, and working closely with the President, Vice President of External Affairs, Dean Nancy, and the
advisors to minimize abuse and maximize resources. An ideal candidate is reliable, detail-oriented, and has a
business-mindset when it comes to organizing fundraisers. The VP of Finance should also possess excellent
communication skills and be able to work with various people from different functions. Ideally, the VP of
Finance should have a credit card and be comfortable using it for organizational purposes. Furthermore, the
VP of Finance will oversee the Finance Committee and organize co-chair responsibilities.
4. VICE PRESIDENT OF INTERNAL AFFAIRS
Your main objective as VP of Internal is to keep the co-chairs and eboard informed of current and future
chapter activities. To accomplish this, you must work closely with the committee co-chairs, project leaders,
and the eboard to keep an ongoing log of events. Other responsibilities include working with BCC and Betty
Cash to make APhA room reservations, updating the PGC calendar with APhA events, recording meeting
minutes, and tracking student attendance at all events. The ideal candidate is responsible, reliable, and works
3
well with others. This role includes a lot of behind-the-scenes work, but is critical in ensuring that our APhA
chapter runs smoothly internally.
5. VICE PRESIDENT OF EXTERNAL AFFAIRS
The Vice President of External Affairs is equivalent to both a Public Relations Coordinator AND the PGC
representative positions combined. Your main objective as VP External is to improve the image of APhA and
be the voice of our chapter to the outside world. One special project for next year’s VP External will be to work
on creating corporate sponsorship packets. You will also be responsible for sending out weekly school-wide
email announcements, creating flyers for events, and promoting APhA at the university level and beyond. This
role will also require attendance at all PGC meetings. Other responsibilities will require maintaining the APhA
sakai site and chapter website (www.rutgersapha.com). Although not necessary, being computer savvy is a
plus!
6. VICE PRESIDENT(S) OF PATIENT CARE (2 positions)
The Vice Presidents of Patient Care are responsible for working together and overseeing all patient care
projects. This includes maintaining close contact with the following personnel: President, President-Elect,
patient care project co-chairs, and chapter advisors, Professors Feudo and Morales. Moreover, it is important
to work with the VP’s of Internal and External to keep the student body informed about APhA patient care
events. Communication is an essential aspect of this role! You will not only help train the co-chairs and
support their events, but also be in charge of improving and expanding the patient care committees. VPs of
Patient Care are responsible for tracking metrics for all patient care events (trainings, visits, health fairs etc.),
and overseeing the completion of the various chapter reports for submission to the national APhA office. The
VP’s will also be in charge of organizing health fairs and collaboration events held between various committees
and other patient care committees on campus, as well as Rutgers Day. This role is a big responsibility, and
requires someone who is passionate about patient care.
7. VICE PRESIDENT OF PROFESSIONAL AFFAIRS
The main focus of the Vice President of Professional Affairs position is planning the annual Rutgers Pharmacy
Career Fair. This involves working closely with Professor Feudo and Greg Sobol from Rutgers Career
Services. You will be responsible for all of the administrative, financial, and promotional activities surrounding
the Career Fair, as well as company recruitment. In addition, you are responsible for organizing Resume
Critique Night with Rutgers Career Services, and leading the co-chairs and members of the Professional
Affairs Committee. The ideal candidate is someone who understands professionalism and is willing to work on
a long-term project.
8. VICE PRESIDENT OF LEGISLATIVE AFFAIRS
The Vice President of Legislative Affairs position is a combination of the SPAN (Student Political Advocacy
Network) Liaison and NJPhA Student Trustee. The main responsibility is to coordinate events that increase
student awareness of current important topics in pharmacy legislation as well as advocating for our profession.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, planning American Pharmacist Month’s “Live! In New York,”
coordinating legislative days with NJPhA lobbyist, Laurie Clark, writing policies to be presented at MRM, and
organizing student attendance at the NJPhA Annual convention. As the NJPhA Student Trustee, you will need
to attend four mandatory Board of Trustee meetings that will take place in Princeton, NJ throughout the year
(you must have your own transportation). You will also be responsible for running the Legislative Affairs
committee and overseeing co-chairs.
9. VICE PRESIDENT OF THE INTERNATIONAL PHARMACEUTICAL STUDENTS’ FEDERATION
The main goal of the VP of IPSF is to oversee initiatives regarding international pharmaceutical interests for
our chapter members. The VP of IPSF will be responsible for initiating innovative projects promoting patient
4

the VP of IPSF to establish a host site for the Student Exchange Program. The VP of IPSF will oversee the
