Jealousy in relationships!!
1 Corinthians 13:4 (NLT)
Love is patient and kind. Love is not jealous or boastful or proud
Feeling resentment against someone because of that person's rivalry, success, or advantages
When it comes to eradicating weakness from one’s life, it is often easier to admit to anger issues or
stinginess but admitting to jealousy is always one of the hardest things to admit.
Reason: Because you have to admit you had something against someone else.
3 effects of jealousy.
1-Causes Conflict.
James 4:2 (NLT)
You want what you don't have, so you scheme and kill to get it. You are jealous of what others have, but
you can't get it, so you fight and wage war to take it away from them.
Competition -Another word for jealousy.
I am competitive which is good but Beat me at pool:2 out of 3
2-Destroys happiness
Proverbs 14:13 (KJV)
Even in laughter the heart is sorrowful; and the end of that mirth is heaviness
1st class analogy :)
1
3-Destroys your inside!!
Jealousy promotes self-pity
Ecclesiastes 4:4 (NLT)
Then I observed that most people are motivated to success because they envy their neighbors.
Bible speaks of jealousy as a cancer, should treat it then like a cancer-Cut it out
Jealousy leads to other sins.
Lie, steal even murder.
Cane Abel Gen4
Joseph Gen 37
1Sam 18 Saul David
Mark 15
Jealousy put Jesus on cross
James 3:16 (NLT)
For wherever there is jealousy and selfish ambition, there you will find disorder and evil of every kind.
Galatians 5:20-21 (NLT)
Idolatry, sorcery, hostility, quarrelling, jealousy, outbursts of anger, selfish ambition, dissension, division,
[21] envy, drunkenness, wild parties, and other sins like these. Let me tell you again, as I have before,
that anyone living that sort of life will not inherit the Kingdom of God.
Associates Jealousy with witchcraft, idolatry & fornication
Reason Satan got kicked out hell.
How can we remove jealousy in a world of competition & comparison?
Starting point is admit it!!
Not that easy!!
2
Easy to admit anger, or general weaknesses but hard to admit jealousy, because jealousy reveals that I
wanted someone else to fail or desired what others have.
It's not a little problem.
Often jealous of peoples possessions!!
Friends, power, influence, looks, physique.
We have far more jealousy in us than we realize & are willing to admit.
5 ways to overcome jealousy!!
1-Realize your uniqueness
Psalm 139:13-15 (NKJV)
For You formed my inward parts; You covered me in my mother's womb. [14] I will praise You, for I am
fearfully and wonderfully made; Marvelous are Your works, And that my soul knows very well. [15] My
frame was not hidden from You, When I was made in secret, And skillfully wrought in the lowest parts of
the earth.
Root of jealousy is insecurity.
Can't accept myself.
Every time you want to be someone else you are insecure.
Challenge the authority of God when you reject yourself-God you blew it.
Serious sin-This sin is Satanic!!
Questioning God's design for you!!
Jealousy becomes irrelevant when you realize who you are.
2-Resist comparing yourself to others.
Galatians 6:4 (NLT)
Pay careful attention to your own work, for then you will get the satisfaction of a job well done, and you
won't need to compare yourself to anyone else.
3
Greatest cause of Jealousy is comparison.
Why comparison is so foolish!!
1-When you compare yourself you'll always find someone doing a better job & become
discouraged.
2-When you compare yourself you'll always find someone doing a worse job than you-Leads to
Pride.
3-Rejoice in what you have.
1 Thessalonians 5:18 (NLT)
Be thankful in all circumstances, for this is God's will for you who belong to Christ Jesus.
More grateful less prone to be jealous.
More than we deserve.
Why be jealous
Ecclesiastes 6:9 (NLT)
Enjoy what you have rather than desiring what you don't have.
Jealousy driven by imagination.
Nothing is ever as good as it appears.
Probably wouldn't want person’s life you are jealous of.
No one coasts-Everyone has a cross.
Being famous is not all its meant to be,
Maturity to be grateful.
Romans 12:15 (NLT)
Be happy with those who are happy, and weep with those who weep.
4
Opposite when jealous.
How do you know you are jealous?
Critical Spirit-Announce that -Im insecure & jealous.
Society taught us to be critical.
Why?
Because we're taught to be Nr1-When we're not Nr1 we criticize & breakdown & miss life's enjoyment.
Enjoy kids, enjoy health.
Take life like a washrag-Squeeze every drop out of it.
Preaching ability? Can i preach like others?
Realized-I have so much to be grateful for.
Philippians 4:19 (NLT)
And this same God who takes care of me will supply all your needs from his glorious riches, which have
been given to us in Christ Jesus.
Mark 12:31 (NLT)
The second is equally important: 'Love your neighbour as yourself.' No other commandment is greater
than these."
1 Corinthians 13:4 (NLT)
Love is patient and kind. Love is not jealous or boastful or proud.
Cannot love & be jealous at the same time.
Love her but jealous-No love yourself.
Rejoice in what we have.

4-Must relax in God's sovereignty.
Doubt God!!
Constantly remind of 3 eternal truths.
-God is in control
-God is loving & fair
-God knows what's best for you.
If not blessed yet, not ready yet.
5-Must focus on God's plan for your life.
When you focused on what God wants to do in & through you ,you will remove jealousy in your life.
Not time to worry about others achievements-Other churches.
God's plan for my life is bigger than my plan for myself.
I had to bless other churches in city.
Can get off track when jealousy gets better of you & never fulfil your life plan.
Rather be inspired by others successes!!
Pursue successful people.
Proverbs 23:17-18 (NLT)
Don't envy sinners, but always continue to fear the Lord. [18] You will be rewarded for this; your hope
will not be disappointed.
Proverbs 24:16 (NKJV)
For a righteous man may fall seven times And rise again, But the wicked shall fall by calamity.
Alter call!!
