Proofreading, Revising, and Editing The aim of the Revising, Editing, and Proofreading workshop is to provide students with everything they need to make their drafts better. Included in this presentation is a listing of concerns that students should address when revising a paper along with a detailed discussion of the order in which these concerns should be addressed. Some areas presented for the students to focus on are thesis, organization, audience, and development. Additionally, revision strategies, such as reading aloud and reading very slowly, are also covered. We recommend scheduling this workshop either before students are given back drafts to revise or before their initial drafts are due. Another recommended time is before peer workshops as it gives the students some ideas of what to look for in their classmates’ papers. While we do feel that the content of this presentation is applicable for any subject area, we are willing to work with instructors to add any specific additional information that might be subject or classroom specific. We can also oversee workshopping with your students after they have completed drafts.
