our daily lives. Include in
each point at least three
real life examples of people
who live life the way you’re
challenging us to do it. (One
example can be a personal
one, but others should be
facts from research.) Paper
should be a minimum of
three pages DS typed in
Times New Roman font.
Find three short stories and
three poems (two American
authors, one world author
each) from contemporary
anthologies that link to the
unit’s theme. In studying
these stories, fill out the
attached worksheet to show
the link between them and
our unit. Create a
PowerPoint or PhotoStory
to present these works to
the class.
You are a journalist covering
the disaster in Haiti. When
you were sent there the day
after the earthquake, you
were told to cover a variety of
topics. Choose three topics
from the list below and write
three separate articles with
researched facts about the
disaster including photos.
Topics: beauty of life,
strength of community,
hardships of survival, suffering
of the injured, immense loss
of life, will to survive,
miracles, or other of your
choice.
Find videos, pictures and
music which show the
historical or current death and
burial customs of four of the
following cultures:
Mesopotamian, Chinese,
Hebrew, Middle-Eastern,
Russian, Italian, Romanian,
French, Columbian, Japanese.
Explain how they relate to the
stories and poems in our unit.
Create a multimedia
presentation to teach these to
the class.
