OREGON AER
The mission of AER International is to support professionals who
provide education and rehabilitation services to people with visual
impairments, offering professional development opportunities,
publications, and public advocacy.
The purpose of Oregon AER is to develop and promote professional
excellence through support of those who provide services to people
of all ages with blindness and visual impairments by:
1. Offering professional development through conferences,
seminars, publications, leadership training experiences and
other means of promoting professional growth and education;
2. Working to improve and expand services for individuals with
visual impairments by advocating for:
a) Research
b) Innovative program development
c) Public policy benefiting persons who are blind or visually
impaired and the professionals who work with them, and
d) A forum for discussion of issues and opportunities related to
service delivery

The Blanche Fischer Foundation (BFF) is a private, nonprofit
501(c)(3) charitable organization founded through a trust
established by the late Blanche Fischer, a native of Long Creek, Ore.
BFF makes direct grants on behalf of individuals with physical

disabilities. The aid may relate directly to the disability or may less
directly foster independence. To be considered for a BFF grant, an
individual must have a disability of a physical nature; reside in the
state of Oregon; and show financial need. Since its founding in 1981,
BFF has awarded over $1.2 million to nearly than 2,200 individual
Oregonians with physical disabilities, and has made more than 100
organizational grants.
Community Colleges and Universities in Oregon offer services for
students with disabilities including students who are blind or visually

Guide Dogs for the Blind provide enhanced mobility to qualified
individuals through partnership with dogs whose unique skills are
developed and nurtured by dedicated volunteers and a professional
staff. Established in 1942, Guide Dogs for the Blind continue its
dedication to quality student training services and extensive followup support for graduates. Our programs are made possible through
the teamwork of staff, volunteers and generous donors. Services are
provided to students from the United States and Canada at no cost
to them.

Oral Hull is a 23-acre park three miles from Sandy, Oregon. Oral Hull
Park is run by a group of volunteers who form the Oral Hull
Foundation for the Blind. The park is reserved primarily for the use
of the blind. Founded in 1962 with a generous gift from Oral and
Albert Hull. Here the blind, the visually impaired, their friends &
family can enjoy a walk in the garden, jogging, fishing, swimming,
hold a meeting, or enjoy a rousing game of scrabble.

Oregon's Office of Vocational Rehabilitation Services (OVRS) assists
Oregonians with disabilities to achieve and maintain employment
and independence.
Services include vocational counseling and guidance; evaluation; p
hysical restoration; vocational and other training services;
information and referral; job development and job search
assistance. OVRS is a state and federally funded program that works
in partnership with the community and with business to develop
employment opportunities for people who have disabilities.
Vocational Rehabilitation programs are custom-designed for each
individual.
OVRS provides services to adults whose vision has not yet reached
that of “legal blindness” and those individuals with non-organic
vision losses.
