The “Five Women” exhibit on display now through February 28th at the South Regional - Broward College Library
chronicles the lives of four generations of Osborne women, from poverty-stricken migrant workers to self-reliant,
educated professionals. Meet these remarkable women on Saturday, Feb. 5th from 3:30pm-5:00pm at the Library

Feminist Lecturer Award, Sociologists for Women in Society. The sponsor awards the Distinguished Feminist Lecturer a

"Elaine Gordon" and "200" scholarships. These scholarships offer Women's Studies students up to $1500 for their senior
year. You can find out more about these scholarships, including the eligibility requirements, on our website. The deadline

Erasmus Mundus Master's Degree in Women's and Gender Studies (GEMMA). Third Country scholars can apply for
research visits at one or various GEMMA European partner institutions. These visits can last between 2 weeks and 3 months
and the grant is calculated on the basis of 1.200 Euros per week. The online application form for both types of scholarships
can be found at the GEMMA webpage (http://www.ugr.es/local/gemma) together with all the necessary instructions.
The BEATRICE BAIN RESEARCH GROUP (BBRG). This announcement concerns two of its programs: 1. THE BBRG
SCHOLARS-IN-RESIDENCE PROGRAM (APPLICATIONS ARE DUE BY MARCH 15, 2011) and 2. THE BBRG AFFILIATED
SCHOLARS PROGRAM (APPLICATIONS ARE ACCEPTED THROUGHOUT THE YEAR)

Call for Papers
Call for Experiences. To help develop a book, tentatively titled Disrupting the Culture of Silence: Women
Navigating Hostility and Making Change in the Academy. The book will feature research chapters paired with
composite case studies of "hostile experiences." It will also include resources and action steps for individuals
navigating such environments, and also for administrators interested in improving workplace cultures, and
researchers/scholars investigating these phenomena.
2. Call For Reviews: Generations of Feminism. Thirdspace is a journal of feminist theory and culture that invites
reviews (of books, films, and other mediums) for its forthcoming themed issue: “Generations of Feminism.” For

4. Florida Consortium for Women’s and Gender Studies Conference, Florida Atlantic University, Boca Raton,

1. SWS Award. $500 to a graduate student or recent doctorate who made contributions to the field of women and
work.
2. Ping Doctoral Research Fellowship. During the 2011–2012 academic year, CIEE will provide up to two $20,000
Ping Doctoral Research Fellowships. Please visit the CIEE website for details about eligibility, requirements, and
the nomination of candidates.
3. NEW! Post Doctoral Fellowship at Rice University. Stipend is $50,000 per year, plus benefits. For a full

4. NEW! The Master’s Program in Women’s Studies at Florida Atlantic University has five new graduate
assistantships available for Fall 2011 and Spring 2012 for applicants who qualify. There also are two additional
Provost's Fellowships for first year WST MA students of $2500 each. You can learn more about our program by

5. Congressional Hispanic Caucus Institute (CHCI) 2011-2012 Graduate Fellowship Programs (for graduate students

2. New! ASPA Women in Public Service Scholarship. Applicants are competing for a $1,000 scholarship. Student
must be female. The deadline for submission is March 10, 2011 at 5:00 PM. (Application in attachments)
3. NEW! Women’s Studies Student Scholarships. Please consider applying for our "Elaine Gordon" and "200"
scholarships. These scholarships offer Women's Studies students up to $1500 for their senior year. You can find

4. WOMEN WHO LEAD REGISTRATION OPEN! Registration for the 5th Annual Women Who Lead Conference is

5. Summer 2011 Internships for The Institute for Women’s Policy Research (IWPR) (www.iwpr.org ).

6. The Mariam K. Chamberlain Fellowship in Women & Public Policy. IWPR (www.iwpr.org ) will offer one
fellowship for 2011-2012. Applications for the 2011-2012 Fellowships are due by March 1, 2011. Please note

7. STUDY ABROAD IN INDIA Attached are brochures describing a study abroad program in India for the Summer of 2011. If
you are interested in applying, please send me a 2 page essay on why you want to go and how it would enhance your
overall religious studies education here at FIU. The deadline is March 15, 2011. Please note, while we can send several
students, we have one scholarship available for a student. By submitting an essay to me you are applying for both the
program and the scholarship!

Reserve the date for this important event. TVM will take place March 4-6. Tickets on sale soon!!
2. Movie Nights
WSSA will continue to host movie nights with women's studies professor Maya Boutaghou. Movie screenings will take place every
other Thursday.
