9th Annual Gerald Thompson Golf Tournament aka 18th Annual AMBUC Golf Outing Participant Information Well it is here again. Another year of fun, golf and a time to do some good for our two friends who left us way too soon! This year the tournament will be held at Squaw Valley in Glen Rose, TX, and a return to years ago when we played two different 18 holes each day. Here is a little information about the course: Squaw Valley Golf Club is located in Glen Rose, Texas just 60 miles southwest of the DFW Metroplex. We are home to 36 holes of Championship Glen Rose Golf, and are consistently rated as one of the top courses in the state, including a 4 1/2 star rating from Golf Digest Magazine, and home to the #1 and #4 municipal courses in Texas by The Dallas Morning News. Perfect for a day trip or even better for a weekend getaway for Glen Rose golf, Squaw Valley features beautiful vistas of century old Oak trees and Squaw Creek that meanders through both courses. Please check in at the reservation desk upon your arrival, tell them you are with Ambucs and they will already have your room assignment. Special note: the price of the tournament includes your room, but you will have to put up a credit card for any additional services that are charged to your room. The hotel is located less than a mile from the golf course southwest on Hwy 67. Also, there are several breakfasts fast food places next door and across the street. The course has a limited breakfast and can get over-run with a lot of people at once. For the tournament, the teams will be divided into 4 flights and pay first, second and third in each flight and closest to the hole on all par 3’s for both days. In addition there will be a Calcutta. The auction will be Friday night at the Squaw Valley Golf Course Pavilion (located at the golf course) and our Dinner will be catered and alcoholic beverages will be available at a discounted price. The Calcutta will be a two-day total with percentage of handicap. MOST IMPORTANTLY! We will be conducting a raffle during the Calcutta. The proceeds are used to fund a $1,000 scholarship in the name of Gerald Thompson to a worthy student on the Grapevine High School Golf Team as well as a general athletic scholarship in the name of Steve Stinson.
