Clothes: The Emperor’s New Clothes
Activities
Rules for good looking/listening/sitting
Sit in semi-circle
Hello Song
Pass the teddy to the child while saying the
name
Sing hello song
Ask “who” the child is going to choose next
Introduce Vocabulary
Teacher either pulls garments out of bag or
shows flashcards – elicits/introduces vocabulary
– encourages children to repeat
Reinforce Vocabulary
Teacher holds up garments/flash cards and says
“Is it (a) …… or (a) ……..?”
Children answer “It’s (a) ….”
Game

Feely bag game with garments

Shuffle and hand out flash cards – teacher, then
children call out vocabulary, child with that
picture jumps up
Story*
Teacher tells story – children can pretend to be
little boy, say his line
Goodbye Song
Now it’s time to say goodbye (tune of Mulberry
Bush)
Say goodbye to each object – child pops it in the
bag when they hear their object
