Dedicated on January 26 th 1989

To the memory of G.G. Campbell B.A. LL.D.

Principal of Sydney Academy 1935-1968

Dr. Campbell was the principal of Sydney Academy for a longer period of time than anyone else. It is safe to say that under his leadership, Sydney Academy became one of the most outstanding high schools in the Atlantic region.

It was during the Campbell era that the present-day Sydney Academy was built. The present building is the sixth building since 1841. This school was officially opened on

September 8 th

1959 and another wing was added on just before Campbell retired in 1968.

It has been estimated that since Sydney Academy began 150 years ago, over 25,000 students have graduated.
