SPECIAL NOTES!!!!
CONCERT TICKETS
Tickets for our February 7th & 8th concerts make excellent gifts and will be
available at choir soon.
PRACTICE CD INFO (a repeat for those who missed it last week)
For those of you who are wondering but haven’t asked the Practice CD’s won’t be
distributed for a while yet. There are still a couple of songs that we will be singing
with Oliver for which practice files have to be posted. Once they are I will invite
orders and announce the distribution schedule.
GIFT CARDS FOR SALE at GHC and HNC until the Christmas break.
Caia Connection and Power of Hope Gift Cards will be available from now until the
week of Dec 16.
If you don't know about these cards - they are a really convenient and meaningful way
to give a gift to someone for the upcoming season. Convenient, because they are
easy to pop in the mail, or give by hand - and meaningful because they
help support the two organizations that the choir raises money for through our
concerts each year.
The cards are $10 each and receipts are available for purchases over $20.
On the back of the cards there is a message saying that "A donation has been made
in your name in support of:
a) the Kuwangisana Education program in Mozambique, or
b) The Power of Hope programs to help out youth.
Additional information about the organization - programs, website address, etc. is
also provided.
Thanks in advance for your support.

RE: HUGH ROBERSON’S MEMORIAL SWAT
I don’t know where to begin to thank the members of the Gettin’ Higher Choir. What a gift they gave to me, my family and
all those present at Hugh’s Life Celebration at Cordova Bay United Church on November 9th. Each time Shivon got up
she smiled so compassionately at all of my family in the first row and then turned to conduct the choir. Denis, as ever,
provided the beautiful piano accompaniment to the singers and the renditions of “May it Be” and “Mystery” were sung with
heartfelt feeling. Did you know I was singing along with you?
I want to thank those who were there that day and all the GHC singers who give willingly and generously of their time.
I am so very grateful.
Hugs to you all.

WORD OF MOUTH / RECOMMENDATIONS
SIMPLE GIFTS ~ SOUNDINGS IN CONCERT
For those of you who have never been to a Soundings concert I say…”Do your ears the favour of being there for either
their Dec. 7th or 8th concert. Ears like surprises but if you need an advance listen before committing yourself you can
check them out on YouTube.
Those of you who have been to past Soundings concerts need no urging from me but consider yourself reminded anyway.

THE LEARNING CURVE OF GRATITUDE
Hear Mary Chapin Carpenter interviewed in NPR's "This I Believe" series in a six minute audio clip, following her recovery
from a pulmonary embolism. You may also listen to her song, "Late For Your Life," which is included after the interview.
Although the broadcast is from 2007, its message seems just as timely today, over six years later.

offered. I can take it to Bloomer when I go in December!

A big part of changing our approach to energy is making
it easy. In practice, that means focusing less on what
people can remember to do and [more on] creating
environments where the green option is the default. So…,
how do we do it right? Instead of trying to change people
we change the world around them.
