All Saints Day
“Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of
heaven.” (MATTHEW 5:3)
“Poor in spirit” is confusing for many of us. It simply means
to place your trust in God, putting His will first and being
strong in faith. As we celebrate the lives of the saints on All
Saints Day, remember, we, too are called to be saints. Dialing down our own pride and ego and turning up the humility
will help us on our path to sainthood.

Marriage Preparation Programs –We are presently looking
for couples from the parish who would be interested in
training to present Marriage Preparation Programs. The
Diocesan Family Life Office would train them and they
would be asked to commit to one session per year. This
also would be an asset to have in our own parish.
Any couples interested in training, please see Fr. Damian
or contact the parish office.
Mass of Remembrance – During the
month of November we remember, in a
special way, those who have preceded us
into eternal life. On Saturday, November
7, at 9:00 a.m. Mass will be celebrated at Corpus Christi
specifically for those who have died this past year and for
all who were buried this year from Corpus Christi Church.
All are welcome to be with us as we offer our prayers on
behalf of your loved one at this special liturgy, where the
names of all who have died during the past year will be
pronounced and intentionally remembered. If you have lost
a loved one and they were not buried from Corpus Christi,
but would like to add their names, please call the parish
office.
Police Recruitment Exam – Applications will be
accepted for the position of Police Officer with the
South River Police Dept. Fliers are at the exits of the
church doors.
“Save the Date” – December 5-9, 2015 – Corpus Christi
will host a Parish Mission with Fr. Herald Joseph Block,
CFR, of the Fransican Friars of the Renewal, to inaugurate
and celebrate beginning of the Jubilee Year of Mercy as
called for by Pope Francis starting on December 8 – the
Solemnity of the Immaculate Conception. The theme of the
Parish Mission will be Mercy. A forthcoming schedule of
the retreat will be made available as we get closer to the
date. During this Parish Mission, Fr Brock will also share
with us ways that we can support and assist the Fransican
Mission Outreach’s Christmas Cameroon Heart Surgery
Sponsorship Effort. Please bring members of your family,
friends, neighbors to what I am sure will be a graced and
prayerful time for our parish family.
A Note from Fr. Damian: From time to time parishioners
ask me for opportunities to memorialize their loved ones
with items needed for the altar and sanctuary appointments.
In truth of fact, many of the objects on or near the altar have
been donated or acquired through this generosity in most
churches. This ancient practice of making an offering of
religious item in memory of a loved one incorporates the
desire to prayer for the deceased at all times in the sacred
worship of the parish church, to render the memory of their
beloved to a holy object to be used for divine service; thus
associating the individual as close as possible to action and
prayer of the Holy Mass. In doing so Christians seek to
perform a work of love and sacrifice on behalf of their loved
one while dedicating their name, and one’s affection for
them, in the form of vestment, religious vessel or object, or
another item to be used exclusively in the prayer and
worship of Almighty God. If anyone desires such a
memorial please see Fr. Damian for such opportunities.
