The position ensures that all communication from the FEO is clear, accurate and consistent through the execution of an appropriate communication strategy and the release of authorised media statements.
The position will achieve its purpose through the following key duties. Working through the relevant staff, in accordance with legislative requirements and the operational needs of the FEO:
1.
Provide input to, implement and monitor the communication strategy for the FEO;
2.
Provide timely and expert advice on all public relations matters to the Director Communications;
3.
Develop relationships with media outlets and manage media events;
4.
Coordinate all public statements / information releases from the Fijian Elections Office and ensure that they are factually correct, in accordance with the Communication Strategy and relevant legislation, policy and procedures;
5.
Ensure that the website content is factual, up to date, meets all legal requirements and the needs of the FEO and stakeholders.
6.
Provide input to key sections of the corporate and operational plans;
Performance will be measured through the following indicators:
1.
All public relations activities within the communication plans completed and delivered as planned and budgeted;
2.
All external communication is coordinated, factual and in accordance with Fiji legislation and relevant policy and procedures;
3.
Web site maintained, with factual and legislatively correct materials.
The Knowledge, Experience, Skills and Abilities required to successfully undertake this role are:

Knowledge and Experience
1.
At least 3 years (post qualification) experience providing communications, public relations or high level stakeholder information programs;
2.
High level knowledge of communication techniques, public relations activities and approaches;
3.
Knowledge of Electoral Systems and methods for accurately communicating material;
4.
Understanding of the Fijian Constitution (2013) and applicable electoral and media laws of Fiji;
5.
Knowledge of Fijian culture and customs.
Form 6 Graduate or equivalent, with excellent results in English and communication related subjects.
USP foundation courses in journalism, communications or public relations would be highly regarded.

High level written and oral communication skills and the ability to write effective and accurate press releases;

Personal Character and Political Neutrality
