Job Description Post Title: Apprenticeships: Academic Support Tutor (Fixed Term until July 31 2016) Salary: £13.19: PTHP Job purpose: To support Apprentices in achieving timely success in their Framework including Functional Skills and to achieve their learning goals Duties and Responsibilities: Improving Apprentices timely achievement including maths & English Functional Skills achievement – to support College strategy. To support Training Officers to support Apprentices with identified learning needs. To develop Apprentices independent learning skills. To use the initial assessment of and identification of support needs. To develop Apprentices Individual Learning Plans To facilitate students’ learning and extend their basic and functional skills under the direction of a Training Officer in a range of situations. To work with the Additional Learning support coordinator, functional skills tutors and Training Officers to develop appropriate strategies to meet individual needs. To identify and develop appropriate resources to support Apprentices learning. To support TO in Apprentices reviews and monitor learning targets. To support Training Officers to track and monitor student progress. To support Apprentices in activities as appropriate, such as functional skills tests. To prepare and maintain records as required. Ensure continued professional development through attendance of necessary training. To maintain up-to-date knowledge of Safeguarding Procedures. Planned programmes to support timely learning and achievement are fulfilled effectively. Contribution to the development of appropriate resources in line with needs Be proactive in matters relating to health and safety in the work place Work hours and at all Employer venues as required. Fulfil any other reasonable duties commensurate with the grading of the post.
