Job Description
Post Title: Learning Link Tutor-Dyslexia
Salary: £17,815
Job purpose:
 To enable learners to achieve their primary learning goals by providing support on a 1:1 or small
group basis with specific focus on learners with dyslexia.
Duties and Responsibilities:
 Improving student retention and achievement – to support College strategy.
 To support curriculum staff in supporting students with additional needs.
 To develop students’ independent learning skills.
 To undertake the initial assessment of and identification of support requirements.
 To develop student support plans.
 To facilitate students’ learning and extend their basic and functional skills under the direction of a
tutor in a range of situations.
 To work with tutors and tutorial staff to develop appropriate strategies to meet individual needs.
 To identify and develop appropriate resources to support student learning.
 To undertake student reviews and monitor learning targets.
 To assist students with portfolio building, mapping functional skills or other evidence as
appropriate.
 To assist tutors and tutorial staff to track and monitor student progress and attendance.
 To accompany students on out of College activities as appropriate.
 To prepare and maintain student records as required.
 Ensure continued professional development through attendance of necessary training.
 To maintain up-to-date knowledge of Safeguarding Procedures.
 Planned programmes to support students’ learning and achievement are fulfilled effectively.
 Procedures relating to the Learning Support Team are undertaken efficiently and effectively.
 Help is given to departmental teams to produce appropriate resources in line with students’ needs.
 Subject tutors to feel that they are supported effectively to fulfil their obligations to deliver
Passport to Success.
 Lessons are attended punctually and appropriate records kept.
 Assist in the educational and social development of learners under the direction and guidance of
the tutor.
 Be proactive in matters relating to health and safety
 Work unsociable hours and at all College venues as required.
 Fulfil any other reasonable duties commensurate with the grading of the post.

 Liaise with external schools, College personnel, employers, managing agents, awarding bodies and
other relevant stakeholders, parents, community groups and specialist staff as appropriate

Holidays:
The basic holiday entitlement is 37 days plus bank holidays

DESIRABLE:
 A qualification demonstrating competence to level 3 in Maths or English
 Support Adult Literacy Level 3 or equivalent
 Support Adult Numeracy Level 3 or equivalent
 NVQ Level 3 in Learner Support or equivalent
