Baltimore Telepathy – Making Mobile Commerce Secure
Baltimore Telepathy addresses security for everyone within a wireless network.
Developers can mix and match individual products to provide exactly the amount — and
the structure — of security they need. These products can be used to create
comprehensive security systems today that will also work with the wireless technologies
of tomorrow (e.g., WAP 1.2 and 1.3).
Baltimore Telepathy WAP Security Toolkit
Baltimore Telepathy WAP Security Toolkit (WST) is a powerful software development kit
allowing application developers to create secure encrypted sessions between online
networked applications. W/Secure contains an implementation of Wireless Transport
Layer Security (WTLS) allowing developers to build full strength security into their WAP
applications
Baltimore Telepathy WAP Security Gateway
Baltimore Telepathy WAP Security Gateway (WSG) provides an end-to-end security
solution for content providers who need complete unbroken security from the mobile
phone all the way to their web/WAP servers. It works with today’s WAP phones and is
the quickest way to get your mobile e-business up and running today. It provides WTLS
authentication, confidentiality and integrity as a standalone application independent of
the WAP gateway/server. It can be configured to re-direct WAP data traffic to any WAP
server or gateway.
Baltimore Telepathy WAP Certificate Authority
Baltimore UniCERT, the award winning Certificate Authority (CA), has been extended to
produce WAP digital certificates (WTLS certificates). WAP gateways and mobile
devices and servers need these certificates to authenticate themselves to mobile device
users. Baltimore Telepathy WAP Certificate Authority (WCA) extends the wide range of
UniCERT plug-in modules already available to now include wireless and wired world
users.
Baltimore Telepathy WAP Certificates
An essential part of publishing secure content to mobile devices is the ability to
authenticate your server to mobile users. WAP Server certificates, also known as WTLS
certificates, are available from Baltimore Technologies as part of its Telepathy range.
Baltimore Telepathy PKI Registration System
A powerful registration system that allows wireless users to seamlessly enter into a
Public Key Infrastructure (PKI). The Baltimore Telepathy PKI Registration System
(PRS) provides mobile device users with their digital identity in a wireless network. It
provides the technology to bind mobile device users to their digital certificates stored in
PKIs. It enables users to authenticate themselves and participate in mobile commerce.
This system can be used for both WAP and GSM/SIM phones.
Baltimore Telepathy PKI Validation System
This is a unique digital certificate retrieval and validation system, with minimal
bandwidth and storage requirements, specifically designed for the constrained wireless
environment. The Baltimore Telepathy PKI Validation System (PVS) retrieves and
validates using certificate identifiers rather than the complete digital certificate, allowing
the user access to multiple certificates without the need to store them locally.
Baltimore Telepathy Digital Signature Toolkit (DST)
This is a powerful developer toolkit allowing content providers to build systems to
process wireless digital signatures. It is an essential tool for anyone creating a mobile
commerce solution that requires digital signatures to be used for authentication,
confidentiality, integrity and non-repudiation. WAP 1.2 specifies digital signatures in
WML (Wireless Markup Language). This toolkit implements that specification and allows
content providers to receive signatures sent from a mobile device and verify their
validity using a PKI.

fusionOne, Inc.
fusionOne is providing an Internet Synchronization service that automatically syncs
information between PCs, handheld devices, web sites, and mobile phones. Unlike
similar technologies that require direct contact between devices, fusionOne utilizes the

managed information through its Personal Information Portal, eDock.com. Based on
WAP 1.1, eDock allows seamless access to personal information such as calendar,
address book, email, bookmarks and files to anybody using a WAP-compatible device.
A user can send and receive email while on the road, forward files from his mobile

ServiceHub, LLC
ServiceHub provides an Internet-based dispatch service for delivery companies, or field
service organizations. The dispatcher uses a PC & Web browser to connect to our data
center. The messages travel from our server via a wireless data network to
dataphones. The mobile worker reads the text messages that contain addresses,
directions, or other relevant information. The worker responds with an acknowledgment
and completion data. Our target market is small companies, with 3-50 mobile workers,
but it scales to hundreds. For the past two years, ServiceHub has supported HDML to
mobile devices. By the end of 1999, as the carriers upgrade their gateways to support
WAP V1.1, we will upgrade ServiceHub to support WAP V1.1. We will support future
versions of the WAP standard as they are approved.
