Course Plan Table INSTRUCTIONS Purpose of this Tool The purpose of the Course Plan Table is to help you organize your course so that you can include your Learning Activities and your Assessments in a weekly schedule planner. It should help you to decide which order you should use to present the content and learning objectives to your students, and when to include your assessments. Steps to Complete the Table 1. Write the Statement of the Competency for your course given by the MELS. 2. Look over your Competency Elements and Performance Criteria from your Course Objectives Table. Decide which Competency Elements or Performance Criteria students will need to master before they will be able to do other more advanced competencies. Then use one of the following approaches to scaffold how you present your Instructional Strategies and Learning Activities: a. Performance Criteria approach i. Write the Competency Elements and Performance Criteria into the table in the order in which you think students will need to approach the material. Make sure to include easier elements first and work up to more complex elements. ii. Using your Learning Activities Table, include the course content you associated with those Competency Elements or Performance Criteria to the class topics for the week/weeks. iii. Referring again to your Learning Activities Table, include the Instructional Strategies and Learning Activities you associated with that content and objectives. b. Content Approach i.
