In 2005 there was an election and many thought that the voting was rigged. Tsvangirai ended up dropping out of the election. Mugabe ended up winning the election. He has been president since December 31, 1987 An election was held on March 29, 2008 between Robert Mugabe, Morgan Tsvangirai, and Simba Makoni. Capital is Harare.
