The 3rd Grade Biography Project! *Biography Poster (DUE Monday, January 11, 2016) *Speech (DUE Monday, January 11, 2016) * Wax Museum (DUE Tuesday, January 12, 2016) Biography Poster- Your child has checked out a biography from the library. After reading this book, they will complete a Biography Poster. The biography poster will include the following: a. Profile- Students must include a picture, illustration or bio-bottle (see pinterest for great ideas). Student must also include the person’s full name, birth: date and place, death: date and place, and occupation below the profile picture. b. Timeline- The students must list five accomplishments including dates for each accomplishment. Be sure the timeline is in chronological order. STUDENT SHOULD NOT INCLUDE BIRTH AND DEATH IN TIMELINE (unless still living). Please see attached template. c. Bio-poem- Please see attached template d. Bibliography- Students must list resources used to complete research. Example of resources- website, encyclopedia, biography books, and any other resources not listed (see attached). ***All the preceding information must be included on biography poster. The teacher will provide one poster board. If a student should lose any attached documents, he or she is responsible for printing out extras at home. You can find these documents on the Charlotte Anderson website. Click the library link. Click “Biography Project Resources.” 2. Speech- Students will prepare a MEMORIZED speech that will be presented in the classroom and at the wax museum. Please DO NOT put speeches on your poster! Student must meet ALL the following requirements: a. Five facts about significant person plus birth and death date (or still living info) b. Recite the facts from memory in 1st person (as though he or she is that person). Example- My name is Martin Luther King Jr. c. Wear a costume and use props that reflects his or her person. Please do NOT feel obligated to buy a costume. Be creative and use any available resources you have at home. Costume is mandatory and part of grade. 3. Wax museum- Presentations to parents and the Charlotte Anderson community will be on Tuesday, January 12th, 2016 at 8:15am. Students will parade the hallways to show off their costumes and immediately enter the cafeteria where they will share their speeches with parents and faculty.
