About Us The Worldwide Ferry Safety Association (WFSA) works to reduce the number of deaths associated with ferry accidents around the world, and especially in developing-world countries. Our recent initiatives include the third international student design competition for a safe affordable ferry; commissioning and funding student research papers; and convening the second international conference on maritime safety and technology. Job Posting: Paid Student Internship Position Overview and Compensation: WFSA is looking for one student intern to assist the Executive Director in pursuing the purposes of the WFSA. The work includes research, report writing, social media management, event planning, and administration, and would involve interacting with an international cadre of leaders of the field of safe maritime transport. Primary among these duties will be to assist in the planning of the second annual Ferry Safety and Technology Conference on June 2nd and 3rd, 2016. The annual conference brings together representatives of academia, government, industry, and ferry operations to develop solutions to the problem of ferry fatalities in the developing world. Conferencerelated duties will include managing the conference website and registration page, contacting sponsors, coordinating with vendors and speakers to meet deadlines, and managing the audiovisual presentations at the conference. Hours will be flexible, and the position will begin in late January or early February. Compensation will be $25/hour. Qualifications Applicants must be current undergraduate or graduate students. Job Posting: Temporary Event Assistant Position Overview and Compensation: WFSA is seeking up to 3 student workers to help transfer and sort conference materials, staff registration tables, and assist with administrative tasks leading up to the second annual Ferry Safety and Technology Conference on June 2nd and 3rd, 2016. The conference brings together representatives of academia, government, industry, and ferry operations to develop solutions to the problem of ferry fatalities in the developing world. Duties will include transferring conference materials from WFSA headquarters to the conference venue in downtown Manhattan, greeting participants and checking them into the conference, and other administrative tasks. Be prepared for a very early start on Thursday, June 2nd, the first day of the conference. Compensation will be $15/hour. Qualifications Knowledge of maritime transport and international policy are a plus. Energy and quick responsiveness will be key to making the event a success.
