TODAY’S ITEMS
Grade 9 Boys Basketball - There will be an important meeting
for Grade 9 Boys interested in playing basketball this year in room
227 at lunch on Friday. There will not be a practice on Friday
morning.
These grade 9 Leadership students are encouraged to submit
their final assignments to Ms. Boyd's box in the main office by the
end of the day on Friday: Keara Anutooshkin, Brynn Clark,
Hannah Clarke, Sage Collins, Maggie Harries, Ashley Patton,
Sierra Simpson, Kiara Talman and Mackenzie Vunak.
Please see Ms. Boyd on Friday in room 205 if you have any
questions.
All boys and girls interested in WRESTLING: There will be a
meeting on Thursday Nov. 7th in Room 204 at the beginning of
lunch. Wrestling practices take place on Monday and Wednesday
at 4:45pm-6:16pm. Meet in the gym.
Grad Hoodies, Sweat shirts, and sweat pants are available
for order. Order will be submitted Nov. 7th and will be ready
for Christmas. Please submit order to the Accounting office. If
you are uncertain of size, samples will be available with Ms.
Boothman in the office.
Attention Grade 9 Girls interested in playing Basketball:
basketball tryouts will be on Friday Nov 9th at 3:30pm. Please
see Mr. Hyde ASAP if you cannot make the tryouts (no meeting
this week – just come to the tryouts).
Attention all Sr. Aboriginal Students. On Tuesday, Nov. 12th
students will have the opportunity to tour and learn about UBC
Okanagan. Students will learn about admissions, programs /
services and will have the opportunity to sit in on actual classes
taught by a professor. Lunch is provided. Please see Mr. Hyde
(rm 101) for permission form. 24 students max.
There will be a very important meeting for all Grad
Committee & Winter Formal members at lunch on Thursday,
November 14th in room 119. Please bring along a strong elf-like
work ethic as we will have a number of tasks to complete!!

Attention grade 12 students interested in attending the
presentations for Queen’s (Nov. 14th), the University of
Calgary (Nov. 26th), Dalhousie (Nov. 28th) and UBC (Nov.
28th). You must sign up to attend any of these four sessions.
Sign-up sheets are now posted on Mrs. Grant’s door in the
counseling office.

Okanagan Cosmetology Institute - 358 Main Street, Penticton
Are you interested in finding out about careers in the esthetics
industry? This includes make-up artistry, manicures, pedicures,
spa treatments and more. This half-day spotlight will allow you to
explore a potential career in cosmetology through interaction with
professionals in the field and “hands-on” opportunities. See Miss
Trovao in the Careers office (1:30 pm – 3:30 pm). For more

the Main Common Area.

Any student who meets the following criteria is encouraged to
apply:
• Enrollment in their final year of high school, taking classes
during spring 2014, progressing normally toward graduation in the
spring/summer 2014, with plans to enter a post-secondary
institution in Sept. 2014
• A strong commitment to pursuing and completing a degree at an
accredited public or private post-secondary institution in Canada;
• Critical financial need ($50,000 or less net income per family is
preferred; if higher, an explanation must be provided);
• Involvement in co-curricular and community activities;
• A minimum grade percentage of 65
• Attend a high school and live in British Columbia; and
• Canadian citizenship.

are interested in hearing from students who have demonstrated

The Terry Fox Humanitarian Award recognizes humanitarian
volunteer work. There is no set discipline students must study in
order to receive the award, but they must maintain their
academic, voluntary and career performance to a satisfactory
level. The deadline to apply is Feb. 1

RE/MAX of Western Canada 2014 Quest for Excellence
Bursary Program
The Quest for Excellence Program is a bursary program for grade
12 students in Western Canada. It was established by RE/MAX of
Western Canada to recognize the success and ongoing pursuits
of Western Canadian students in regards to leadership and
community contribution initiatives. Each year, RE/MAX will award
16 bursaries of $1,000 each totaling $16,000 in Western Canada.
