UMAT 2016
National Institute of Education: Simulated UMAT Day Workshop

Workshops are designed to cover the various types of UMAT style questions to be encountered and how to
tackle them. During the intensive one day course, students will spend time with teachers as they go through
Logical Reasoning, Understanding People and Non-Verbal Reasoning sections of the exam.

From 2016 UNSW Canberra will be accepting non-defence first year undergraduate engineering
students for the first time (as well as students already studying for their engineering degree at
other Universities, who will be able to complete their studies at UNSW Canberra).
Current year 12 school students who wish to study engineering without joining join the Australian Defence Force are
strongly encouraged to apply for entry to these elite engineering programs. UNSW Canberra is offering enrolment
across all four engineering programs. UNSW Canberra will be hosting events for career advisors, parents and students
to provide information about the programs and tours of the campus, on the following dates:

CSU: Online Digital Forensics Course
CSU’s online Digital Forensics course has become one of CSU’s most popular short courses as cybercrime
becomes increasingly relevant to everyday lives. Over 6,000 students from 35 countries registered for the

The Indigenous Australian Engineering Summer School (IAESS) provides Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander
students from around Australia with the opportunity to experience engineering studies and careers. Open to
Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students entering Years 10, 11 and 12, the six-day live-in summer school
gives these students a taste of engineering as a university course and career. It involves hands-on and
challenging activities within the Faculty of Science and Engineering as well as site visits to engineering
companies.

UNSW: Science Work Experience Program 2015 Pilot Initiative

UNSW Science will be trialing a work experience pilot program and is currently collecting expressions of
interest from students in Years 10 or 11 that are enrolled in an Australian secondary school. Students who
participate in the program will gain insight and experience into the faculty’s everyday work, gain relevant
work experience, and explore their careers and study interests. Up to 20 places will be made available in the
pilot round.
