Dec. 5, 2008 -50 Points DIRECTIONS: Congratulations, you’ve been selected to start a new travel agency called, “Ancient Adventures.” Before anyone can sign up for a tour, you need to create a travel brochure, highlighting the unique features of one destination in Mesoamerica. I. PROCEDURE You will research and design a tri-fold travel brochure advertising a trip to one of the following locations. We will spend a few days in the computer lab, but plan on spending time working at home. Choose one city from the list below: 1. Palenque, Mexico, --Mayan 2. Chitzen Itza, Mexico --Mayan 3. Mexico City, formerly Tenochtitlan, Aztec 4. Cuzco, Peru --Inca 5. Machu Picchu, Peru -- Inca II. THE BROCHURE FORMAT Your brochure should include six sections that fold together into a tri-fold booklet; see the format below! Options: Present your information in tables, lists, short concise paragraphs, bullets, or pictures with captions. Each page should include images, artwork or clip art. Have fun with this assignment and think outside of the box; this is NOT a report! Happy travels! III. TRI-FOLD FORMAT: Follow this format for your brochure. Each page needs a sub-title heading. The cover will come out in the middle even though it looks like it won’t. Culture: –Explain (4) of the cultural aspects & provide images Farming, food, art, math, music, clothing, calendar, transportation, roads, language, communication, astronomy, education, religion, government, sports, jewelry, etc. Map and Geography Include a map that shows the capital, major cities, geographical features and regions, bodies of water, ancient sites and ruins, climate, and weather. Bibliography List the book titles, author’s names and websites. *A format will be given in class. About the Author Write about yourself in the “third person” and include a photo. Amazing Facts and Photos or “Your Choice” Creative Page –A list of things to pack –A combination of photos & amazing facts on this place. –Modern places to sightsee –Air fare costs, routes, airlines and connecting flights Make a Cool Cover Draw a colorful and creative cover or use clip art. Give your brochure a clever title, and have fitting a picture on it. Tell the History Explain the history of this place. Show pictures of historical sites and ancient ruins.
