The collaboration between the two companies builds on PROSTEP AG’s reputation as one of the leading specialists for product data and process integration in manufacturing industry. As a result of the strategic agreement between the two companies, PROSTEP will license technology from Adobe for development of a 3D translation server product. Additionally, PROSTEP has a license to resell Adobe® LiveCycle® PDF Generator 3D ES2 until a PROSTEP replacement product is offered. The interim product will be named PROSTEP PDF Generator 3D for Adobe LiveCycle ES2. The company, which has its headquarters in Germany, will concentrate on the design and support of processes in the manufacturing industry, and will continue development of 3D PDF technology for secure and standards-based communication of 3D product data in PDF-based documents. This approach includes the continued development of the 3D functionality in Adobe Reader needed to visualize, add comments to and publish 3D data in the PRC and U3D formats. Furthermore, Adobe intends to continue to be a part of the ISO working group that is involved in incorporating the highly-compressed, high-precision PRC format in the ISO standard.
