Step 2: Go to CogLab http://coglab.wadsworth.com/
- Scroll down ‘Account Information’ for Student (right side of screen)
- Click ‘Create a new account’
- Scroll down to the bottom of the page and enter the group ID, password information, and
registration code (the code you obtained in step 1)
- Group ID: villacog13
- Password: villacog13
- Enter the registration code,
- click Submit information
Step 3
1. Your Web browser will connect with the CogLab server to verify your information. If the
information is correct, a new window will appear. The field marked as 'Your log-in ID:'
lists your assigned log-in ID, which you will use to access your CogLab account and
complete experiments. You cannot change this log-in ID.
2. Enter your first name, last (family) name, a password, and a security question and
answer. The password must be between 6-10 characters (if you type a longer one it will
not accept it). Click Apply (it is important to click ‘Apply’, otherwise the changes won’t
take place)
3. When your data is saved, your Web browser will load a new window that lists all the
properties of your CogLab account. Especially important is the log-in ID and password.
Print or save this Web page for your records. (Note: some pop-up blockers will prevent
this window from appearing. (Go to the CogLab Browser Check page for details.)

Step 4: Now you are ready to start experiments, by clicking to experiments names in the main
page http://coglab.wadsworth.com/ and entering the ID and password at the end of the screen
Step 5. In the main page, there is a student manual, which you can print or look online
Last Step: REMEMBER to write down the log-in ID and password you are using. You will need
it for doing homework
Troubleshooting for using CogLab
- Did you make sure the pop-up blocker is turned off? (in the Tool menu)
- Did you click ‘Apply’ after making changes to your password?
- Did you choose a password that is between 6 and 10 characters in length
- When you access your account, enlarge its window so you can see in the bottom of it whether
the changes you are requesting are being implemented (message in green) or being denied
(message in red)
- Try using the CogLab help (http://coglab.wadsworth.com/support/help.html) or alternatively
their tech support
- Come to my office hours (bring your laptop if possible)
