Lesson plan
A. Pre-viewing activities
1. Show students the poster of the film (Appendix I). Students need to complete a worksheet
(Appendix II).
2. Show students the trailer. Students need to make sense of the trailer with the characters.
Students need to complete a worksheet (Appendix II).
3. Students watch the trailer again and jot down 3 characters that they have impressed by.

B. First clipping
While-viewing activities
1. Students watch the first clipping. (Appendix III).
2. Students would need to complete the table (Appendix IV) in order to find out what
relationship between the characters and predict what will happen.
Post-viewing activities
1. Students work in groups of 4, sharing their thoughts and feelings of this clipping to their
groupmates for 1-2 minutes.
C. Second clipping
While-viewing activities
1. Students watch the second clipping (Appendix V).
2. Students jot down what happen in a particular scene (Appendix VI).

D. Third clipping
While-viewing activities
1. Students will be in groups of 5, watch the third clip (Appendix VIII) for the first time
to pick out their favorite scene. Each group will pick out one scene.
2. Students will watch the clip for the second time and jot down the details of their
favorite scene.
Post-viewing activity
1. One or two group members will be responsible for giving a short summary on their
favorite clip with 3 reasons and if they would like to modify the scene. Other group
members will be responsible for acting out the scene.
E. Final clipping

1. Students watch the final clipping (Appendix IX).
2. Students will need to complete a worksheet (Appendix X).
Post-viewing activities
1. Students will be divided into groups of 5. Each group will choose a storyline to
discuss on the characters’ attitudes towards love and how students would react if
they were the characters.
2. Each group will need to come up with one more story line on what kind of love
modes / love values that they would like to have for an additional storyline in Love
Actually.

Jamie’s novel was blown to the lake. Aurelia
immediately jumped into the lake to get the
papers back.
Juliet suddenly went to Mark’s home to
search for the wedding video. She found it
and watched it, almost all the scenes were
shots of Juliet.
David decided to transfer Natalie to another
unit so that he would not have to see her.
Sam was sad because his ‘coolest girl in
school’ was going back to America. Daniel
tried to work out a solution with him.
Aurelia was going back home and she told
Jamie that she would miss him.
Sam finally thought of a way to get his girl’s
attention. He would learnt to play drums to
give a performance in the Christmas party in
order to catch his girl’s attention.

necklace to Mai secretly and she was mad
about it. In the end, Karen forgives Harry.
Billy’s song went to the top on the music
chart in the Christmas week. Billy chose to
stay with his manager on Christmas Eve.
Mark told Juliet that he loved her on
Christmas eve. Finally Juliet gave him a kiss.
David went to find Natalie, searching house
by house. He finally got her and kissed her
on the stage.
Sam finally got his girl’s attention. He
chased her to the airport and even ignored
the securities in the airport. He finally got a
kiss from the girl.
Jamie found Aurelia and proposed in front of
all the people. Aurelia promised to marry
him.
