Saturday, June 28th - (Day 1)
9-12pm-
Camp Registration
12-12:30pm- Coaches Meeting in the field house
1:00pm-
Camp Orientation/Coach Introductions/Camp Rules and Goals/Team Lines (10
teams of eight). Talk what it means to be a strong point guard/great player.
Give out folders! (Commitment, Seriousness, Aggressiveness, Toughness,
Leadership, Communication, Work Ethic, Team Player, Fearlessness,
Extension of your Coach, Willingness to learn, Coachable, Etc.) – Have campers
take notes.
1:30pm-
Dynamic Stretch and Warm-up Routine w/ball Maglio/Weidman/Monahan
(50/70/90% jog, high knees, butt kicks, karaoke, lunge and twist, lateral lunge, knee to
chest/toe raise, power skip w/ arm circles, superlunge, frankensteins, pick up trash, hard
stutters, rebounds, frogs, imagery lay-ups) (Warm-up sprints/back pedal w/ ball, Six
Station Pass and Lay-in (2/3 courts)
1:50pm-
Explain importance of hard work and focus during skill stations.
Point Guard Essential Skill Stations (12 mins. Each)
Passing/Catching Fundamentals- Hand placement, step, eyes, balance, low
athletic, put mustard on it! See numbers, proper angles.(Chest, Bounce, Overhead, curl,
fake and make, hand off, one hand push, two hand long pass) Drills- Two line pass and go
behind, Two/Three Man Rapid Fire, Circle Passing, Perimeter Speed Passing, Box,
Passing(two balls), 3/4/5 man weave, 3 man 2 balls, 4 on 3 box passing, box passing,
Bull in the pen. Etc.
Finishing Moves off the dribble- Half-court dribble moves into lay-ups and jump
shots, jab-step series, lay-ups off one foot/two feet, rev. lay-ups, etc. Use chairs/cones.
Finish in Traffic Drill.
On ball and Off Ball Defensive Principles- Fundamental on the ball defense.
Importance of communication and intensity. Drills-Stance and shuffle 1 on 1, 2 on 2
closeout, Shuffle drill, Zig-zag 1on1, 3 on 3 help and recover live.
Shooting Fundamentals/game conditions and speed- Shooting off the dribble,
shooting off the catch, etc., use chair off curl, fade, ball screen, etc. /get creative/3 spot
shooting
Using ball screens/live- low, shoulder to shoulder, show one way and go the
other, attack the basket. 2 vs 1 defender, 2 vs 2 defenders
Seam Penetration Basics/live into jump shots and one foot/two foot lay-upsHelp them to recognize space and openings between defenders. 2 vs. 3 Drill /Drive and
Dish passing.
Feeding post and relocation- Explain importance of proper angles and types of
passes into post.
Penetrate and kick into jump shots,3’s, and lay-ups- use chairs and cones as
defenders. Drive/draw defender and kick to wing/top/corner for 3’s/one dribble
pulls/lay-ups. Reps!!!

Stationary Group Ball Handling (Every camper with a ball)- Gomes, Monahan, Mags,
Weidman -- Six Keys To Ball-handling / Three types of Dribble Situations / Handeye quickness and handle drills (Arms staggered drops/flips, arms together
drop/flips, drop rhythm single leg, behind head claps, behind knees claps, quick
touches, slaps, pinches, head/waist/knees circles/cork screw, single leg/figure 8’s no
dribble, around the step back, throw it through with two, cupping, Dribble pounds,
pound and kill dribbles, single arm/single leg, both legs, figure 8 dribble, Spider, Vdribble front/ side, 1 hand 2 dribbles 1 leg, 2 hands 2 dribbles around legs, 1 hand 1
dribble 1 leg, 2 hands 1 dribble around leg, protection dribble, crossover, inside out,
behind back, thru legs, spin and protect, combine two, mirror your partner/resistance
from partner.) Dribble Tag King of the Court # 1(by team groups)

Drink/Snack Bar (“Without a solid foundation, no building can stand tall and strong”)

Footwork and Ball Control Stations. Group Triple Attack/ Pivot/ Jab/ Protect
Stations (6 stations – 7 mins. each) (Trip. Attack, Pivoting w/ both feet, Sweep thru
laces/forehead, jab series, 1-2 step/jump stop basics, shot fake/ball fakes, protecting
under pressure w/ pivot/fouls double team/ with and without dribble)
Review proper triple attack stance and position, pivoting w/ both feet, how to protect
ball from defender, use of the jab step/body. (Spread out w/ ball, whistle/stance(with
both pivot feet), 10 lines of five-toss, jump stop, triple attack, pivot(inside and outside
pivots)and pass(both feet), ball fakes/shot fakes/swing through, balanced and strong.
Pair up campers and work on triple attack w/ pressure defense/being fouled/and double
teamed with and without dribble.) Keep time and score with competitive drills.
Consequences!!!

Stationary stretch and warm-up w/ ball w/ Maglio, Monahan, Weidman
Start with arms and work down. Everyone counting. Add some strength and plyo
exercises. Warm-up w/ ball handling in motion—
Next set of stationary ball-handling drills-(1 hand machine gun, 2 hand machine
gun, finger by finger machine gun, single arm single leg machine gun, figure 8 machine
gun, figure 8 on one knee, sitting legs crossed around body, lay down by
hip/shoulder,head, head w 2 hands, lay on side, lay down and roll, lay down and pass
under feet, dribble sit-ups, plyo push-ups w/ ball, sideline moves(hesi./stutter,hard
stutter, in and out, fake cross, cross over, behind back, between legs, spin and protect,
step-slide protect, mirror partner, follow the leader, push ahead hi speed dribble.)
Dribble Tag Competition #2 (One big group use h.c.)

Rvw 1 on 1 basics and competition. Play( 2 dribble rule). Rvw. 2 on 2 basics and
competition. Play (3 dribble rule).
6:55pm-
12 mins. -Passing in motion (NCAA) -2 lines/ 2 lines plant push and lay-in/ 3 lines/
3 lines 2 balls/4 lines 2 balls, Box passing, 2 line pass and go behind, Rapid fire
passing, 6 man passing, Perimeter speed passing into lay-ups, 3 man weave/5 man
weave passing and lay-ups.
12 mins. -Fast Break Basics/Introduction—Pass ahead, less is more, be quick,
rebound, survey on the go, spacing, lanes, pt. guard should receive ball by first or
second pass, outlet, middle, try to avoid the outer thirds, the pass is always faster than
the dribble, finish!!!. Drills—Survey on the go/w chaser, 2 man break(pass deep
ahead), 2 man break pitch and fill (lay-up and j. shot), Both Three man triangle
breaks.
12 mins. Speed Ladder/Cone Hops/Lateral Speed/Plyo. drills/Core strength-

Free throw routine/Team Free throws (10 each)/Team Practice session (put in a man
offense and oob play)Explain Free throw basics/technique/ and importance of being a consistent free
throw shooter. Coaches Keep track of each player’s shooting percentage on sheet
provided.

Read and react offense rvw. and /or 3 on 3 lecture/rules w/ coaches. (3 dribble
max)----- NBA/NCAA choose teams and play games. Games are 4 mins. each/ winners
stay losers rotate to next hoop. Coaches stop and teach fundamentals during games.
Keep track of your team’s total wins on the day.
8:25pm-
NCAA----Becoming an Expert at Lay-ups/close range jumpers. Reps!Reps!Reps!
(Group Lay-up Drills) 30 sec. drills (6 station pass and lay-in, Group hoops lay-ups, 3 out
1 in, Pitino Drill, Gator Drill, Car Wash,140 in 4, Obstacle Course, Plant and push layins,
Overtake lay-ups and jump shot drill(right hand and left hand). Use chairs and cones
to make dribble moves.
NBA----5 on 5 on 5 drills (Transition off/def. and recognizing #’s, recognizing
defensive sets) use fieldhouse (Communicate sets/ run R and R/ be vocal)

Report to teams 5 on 5 game (run man/zone offense, oob plays for organization.)

Sunday, June 29th, Day 27:30-8:45am- Breakfast

Team Attendance. Dynamic Stretch Routine and Warm-up w/ ball (Follow the leader, 3
man passing into lay-ups (2 balls), 2 man pass and lay-in, Car wash drill, 3 out 1 in
passing/lay-ups)/ Incorporate strength/core and plyo conditioning.
9:30am-
Group Ball-handling in motion. 3-threat/pivot/protect vs. two defenders and getting
fouled.
9:50am-
3 on 3 fundamental ball with screens/cuts/2 dribble limit. Make all new teams/kings of
the court. 4
10:10am-
Toughness series/drills in stations.
1.) Jack’em up/fouls 2.) Dive for loose ball pick up/bounce up and finish in traffic 3.)
Car wash. 4.) Partner take the charge 5.) Closeout/Box–out/finish 6.) Save it OOB 7.)
IBA Drill 8.) Second/third effort 9.) Butt to Butt, Butt to Butt ground 10.) Dribble

Explain what transition is and why it is important! Demonstrate and split into leagues.
(Transition Basics: 3 man passing into 2 on 1 into 1 on 1 and 5 man weave to 3 on2,
2 on 1, 1 on 1, 1 on 0, or 1,2,3,4 drill) Coaches stop and explain/correct mistakes
when necessary.
