Room 132 The College and Career Center will be open all evening for
you to visit. Manual has a College and Career Center (CCC) located inside the
Guidance Office. The CCC is open to all students during the school day to assist them
wherever they are in their college search process. We have many resource materials
available including college comparison guides, college major guides, scholarship
information, financial aid, summer opportunities for underclassmen, college marketing
materials from hundreds of colleges, and more. Come by tonight and see what resources
are available to your student!

prepare for college & university requirements specific to general application
completion/acceptance and any scholarship selection process where resumes and/or
interviewing are an essential ingredient in successful pursuit of these endeavors.

Get a head start on the college application process! This session will cover the following
topics: what colleges need from you when applying, what counselors need from you to
help you complete the college application, important deadlines, how to make your college
application stand out from others. The Guidance Office encourages all seniors to have
submitted college applications by Thanksgiving. Visit this session and leave ahead of the
game!

Room 204 – Scholarships: How to Pay the Bill for College

Unless your last name is Gates or Rockefeller, this is the session for you. We will explore
topics such as when and where to start the search for free money and what kinds of
scholarships are available, and how to apply for them. This session will also provide
parents with enough information so they can have the resources to develop strategies to
help pay for a college education beyond the funds that may be distributed from Federal
and State Financial Aid Resources.

This session will offer suggestions about how to have an honest, positive and productive
conversation with a student about realistic expectations regarding college admission.
Topics will include the following: in state vs. out of state, family finance, and choosing a
school for the right reasons.

How do I choose between the ACT and the SAT? How do I prepare? How do I earn
points and lose points? Introduction to ACT Prep the newest benefit for Manual students.
This session will offer a walk-through of the TCA Prep Program, an online test study
guide for the ACT. It is extremely simple to use; and creators state that in as little as 10
hours of preparation time, students should see improvement in their ACT scores. This
program was recently purchased by Manual and is available to all students at no charge.
