WOMEN’S MINISTRY WOMIN 4223/WOMST 4003
Fall 2008
Final Exam
You must turn a hardcopy of your exam in to my office no later than
3:00pm on December 8th. All exams must be typed. You may use your
notes and your Bible, but you may not consult with anyone else. Your
answers must reflect your answers and how you would approach each
scenario.
Answer each of the following seven (7) questions. They will be graded on
completeness of answer and how realistic your response might be
implemented. Each question is worth 15 points with a total 105 points
possible.
1. You are in a church that has always had a Baptist Women group (WMU). The
group is still very alive with about 35 women actively involved. Most of these
women are over the age of 50, are great prayer warriors and give time and
money to missions. You also have an active women’s ministry with about 75
women involved. The women’s ministry programming is primarily Bible
Studies and special events. You have noticed that the WMU ladies and the
women’s ministry ladies are rarely together. And now, you are beginning to
hear rumblings from the WMU group that the church does not care about
missions anymore. The statement that really made you cringe was “They
care more about Beth Moore than about Lottie Moon.” How do you address
this issue and begin to bring the two groups together?
2. God has led you to begin a women’s ministry in your church. You already
have a group of ladies that have felt the same need and are willing to join
with you in starting this ministry. While your pastor is all for women’s Bible
studies, he really does not see the need for a full women’s ministry. How do
you gain the support of the pastor and ultimately the support of the church
for the women’s ministry?
3. You have been given approval to launch a women’s ministry, in fact, the
church sees the need to be so great that you are now the part-time women’s
minister. The ministry even has a small budget. Your first order of business
is to develop your leadership team. How will you discover and enlist leaders?
How will your ministry team be organized? How will you continue to train
and develop leaders?
4. You are working with your leadership team to develop a discipleship program
in your church. What process would you take them through and what
challenges might you face?
5. Discuss the importance and value of a mentoring ministry in the church.
Then describe how you would carryout a mentoring ministry in the local
church.
6. One goal of your women’s ministry is to help each woman find her place of
service. How would you go doing this?
7. The women’s ministry has gone through some leadership changes as the
church has grown and new people have moved into the area. You have a
leadership team that is ready and eager to the task of leading the women’s
ministry. It is time to do some strategic planning for the upcoming year and
the years to follow so you have schedule a leadership retreat. If your goal is
planning, how will you lead the team through the planning process for the
women’s ministry?
