One of the major activities to fulfill the Center’s mission of conducting research on
Korean Americans and other overseas Koreans and disseminating data and information to
the Korean community and the Korean government is to organize the annual conference
on Korean American experiences and overseas Koreans. We plan to alternate the
international conference focusing on overseas Koreans all together and the North
American conference focusing on Koreans in North America. We are organizing the
international conference focusing on “Korean Diasaporic and Immigrant Communities’
Transnational Ties to Homeland” this year. The conference will be held at the Open
Space of Korea Village on October 8 and 9. Sixteen scholars from Korea, Japan, Canada,
and the United States will participate in the conference. We will have a gala on the eve at
Daedong Manor of Korea Village, celebrating the first anniversary of the foundation of
the Center. We expect to have about 150 Korean community leaders at the gala.
