MEDICAL DIRECTOR, SPECIALTY MEDICAL LABORATORY (1997-1998)
Laboratory Operations

Consults in the development of new procedures for ultimate transfer to
clinical laboratory and approve the release of new testing procedures.

Consults with the appropriate technical staff to ensure appropriate quality
control parameters, policies and procedures and related documentation are
developed.

Consults with key individuals to plan test development strategies. Examines
potential marketability of tests, consults the technical personnel to evaluate
resource requirements.

Directs the maintenance of all required data documenting the development
of each procedure transferred to the clinical laboratory and establish ongoing monitoring efforts. Directs technical staff in the trouble-shooting of

problematic assays in Clinical Laboratory. Works with the appropriate
Technical staff to provide lasting solutions to identified problems.

Evaluates the potential for implementing of improvements in existing clinical
procedures as suggested by technical staff.

Directs the verification and quality control of reagents and control materials
utilised in procedures. Maintains reference standards and other materials
necessary for future assay evaluation.

Develop a technologist/technician training and/or cross-training and review
plan.

Assists Client Services department as required by receiving technical calls
from clients and sales staff.

Hires, evaluates and counsels staff required. Evaluates Human Resource
staffing needs and consults with Human Resources department to maintain
sufficient staff within the laboratory.

Ensures laboratory compliance with College of American Pathologists
(CAP) regulations

Lead the development of an external quality assessment scheme or an
equivalent association in conjunction with SLA and Specialty staff.

Provide QC review for the Diagnostic Manufacturing Division of Specialty.

Obtain CAP accreditation and IEC/ISO G25 for the laboratory 1998.
Sales And Marketing

Coordinate the development of the Clinical Trials Business of Specialty.

Oversee the development of technical/scientific seminars in conjunction with
Sales and Marketing for presentation by the Sales Team along the lines of the
Specialty Speaker’s Bureau with the focus on the introduction of new
technologists to Malaysia : Flow Cytometry, IHC, Image Analysis, PCR and
bDNA.

Provide direct sales and marketing support in the field with Specialty
Technical Sales Executives in the closure of laboratory services agreements
with hospitals, clinics and laboratories in Malaysia and Singapore.

Prepare and implement a schedule of Seminars to be given by Senior
Scientific and or technical staff in Malaysia.

Participate in the presentation of proposals in the major private hospitals as
needed by the Sales Team.
